What do you believe you can take with you?

I've always told my kids you are born with everything that's owed to you and when you die you take everything that' s yours.

Having said that I believe that when you pass you will stand before a celestial committee. The committee will ask you one question, "Did you learn anything?" Your answer is the only thing you take with you.

yeah.....but the question might be more like....
What do you believe?...followed by...
Who told you that and why did you believe it?

I suspect we take what we hold in mind and heart.
It is written...
Do not conform to this world ...be transformed by it.

You will become whatever you really are.
Some of us will take wing.....some will crawl away.

Exactly. No matter what the question the answer is within you. You might be surprised at the joy you find by living that answer.

or greatly dismayed.....

I believe the peace of heaven is guarded.....not all are allowed in.
With your beliefs pronounced, the angelic might lead you to others that believe the same as you do.
How else to be happy?...how else to be fair?

Then the question would be.....can you live with yourself (and others like yourself) for all of eternity?

My opinion is that what we think of as 'us' is three bodies; physical/astral/mental interpenetrating each other in progressively subtle layers.. When the physical drops off the astral/mental continue without the clunky outermost shell. We will just feel lighter and freer. As reported in NDEs and other experiences we will not at first be certain that we have 'died' except for the lighter feeling.

I believe consciousness is not physical but can incarnate/animate physical bodies for the physical experiences of earthly challenges and joys.

Not sure if I understand what you're saying.

Well....if heaven is a place of peace.....
then all that enter must have that ability....not just desire.

And for you, your anticipation leads the way.
You have some thought about it?.........

I believe that peace, like happiness, comes from within. If a person waits for an outside force or action to bring peace to his/her life they may be sorely disappointed. Usually what you truly want in your life you already have; you just need to find it.

You may well be at peace with yourself.....
But I suspect the disciplines of heaven are greater than the disciplines we know in this life.

I don't believe the angelic are as receptive as most people assume.

I've heard people say that money or material possessions aren't all that important because you can't take them with you when you die.

The question here is, what do you believe you can take with you to the afterlife? Some people believe that they'll basically get their bodies and personalities back in a resurrected paradise. Others believe personality persists but not the body. Others believe personality doesn't persist but individual pure consciousness does. Some believe that not even individuality remains, and that you merge back into the ocean of conscious existence. And of course, there are people that believe that death means oblivion, that consciousness is an emergent property of physical matter and that upon destruction of that physical matter, consciousness is dispersed and no longer existent.

What do you believe? What do you have now, that you believe that you'll have, or that will matter, in the afterlife?

-Body?
-Race?
-Gender?
-Wealth?
-Personality?
-Memories?
-Relationships?
-Virtue?
-Knowledge?
-Wisdom?
-Individuality?
-Consciousness?
-Something else?
-Nothing?

Consciousness or spirit/soul.

If you have done things in this life that would lead to such stern discipline in another dimension maybe you should address these failings before you leave this world. Just saying...

Indeed!
I've read something about 'washing the inside of the cup'!
