What kinds of things do you like to collect?

I mostly collect interesting toys and models(leaning heavily towards SciFi/Fantasy).My largest collections are Star Wars and Star Trek items.I love it when someone says"aren't you a little old for this stuff?".

My wife collects ceramic roosters, teapots, and candles(we could light the whole city!).

peeb!
I have so many collections...it's not funny. But I'll see if I can list them all...

-dinosaur books, especially old ones and textbooks
-old books--my oldest is from the 1850's
-dragon stuff
-dinosaur toys (this is one of my biggest collections)
-posters
-fossils/rocks--anything from dinosaur teeth to stone spheres to chunks of sulfur
-necklaces, as they're the only piece of jewelry I readily wear
-foreign monies, because they're cool
-pencils. No idea how this one got started.
-movies :D
-Lladro figures, because they're super awesome
-Legos and other buildy things. I have some here at school with me ^^
-beads (but this one, at least, I have an excuse for--I bead necklaces and rosaries)

...that's all that comes to mind.

I don't tend to collect much. I keep my comics and read and reread them. I keep my books and keep getting more lol. I like swords (good grief I sounded like Fighter there). I tend to keep trinkets and cards sent to me.

Beyond that, I don't collect much. Sometimes I pick up a rock I like or something like that, but Im really not much of a collector. It complicates things too much :).

Ooh, I once won a slab of beer off the radio for answering this very question. :p My answer was: I collect all things hippopotamus. It started one year when I was about 6, when I went around singing "I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas" for weeks on end. That Christmas I got a large stuffed hippo, which I dubbed Mrs. Hippy (get it? :p ), among other things. Mum is almost always sure to give me something hippo for Christmas, even now. I used to be totally compulsive about buying anything hippo - if I saw it, I had to have it. I have multiple hippopotamus fridge magnets, plenty of stuffed toys, ornaments galore (most of which are now in storage as I have nowhere to display them), coffee mugs, salt and pepper shakers, soaps, toys...you name it, I probably have it. I even have a nodding hippo on the dashboard of my car, like those nodding dogs you see. I have a large clay hippo sculpture I made about 10 years ago which I had to bring home on the plane from Queensland after I made it. I've actually been really good about not adding to my collection in recent years, since I've been trying to reduce the clutter in my life and my cupboards. I had even considered selling the collection...but couldn't quite bring myself to do it.

Oh, I also collect coins, stamps, and cats (mostly in ornament form, not the furry alive form, although I do have one of those).

Magic cards, actually. Gad, I was obsessed with them when I was younger.
I have two suitcases full of those damn things and I only played the game about 10 times.I'm going to try to sell them.

I've seen hippo slippers, do you have those? I only saw them in kids sizes.

Feathers in Hair

World's Tallest Hobbit
*the dust landing on Feathers, who is quite shorter* Hey!

I love me some fluorite! I also enjoy most other crystals, if they speak to me.

I also collect representations of my spirit animal/ guides. That includes unicorn, fox, spider and raven, though since I only really like spiders in theory and not in practice so far, it's hard to try to find one that doesn't scare me. Conversely, as I was whining about the other day, it's hard to find a unicorn picture, statue or anything of that nature that is anything like true to life.

And books. The blood of librarians flows in my veins. I've been told that not everyone takes all the books off their shelves, mixes them up, and puts them back again only for the joy of sorting by category and then by author.

The Devil's Advocate
Mostly I collect knowledge, interesting facts and tidbits.

Which is not to say that I don't go in for the material stuff. I love American cheese, so... floaty pens from places that I've visited, clever windup toys, clever fast food toys, KINDER SURPISE toys (ok, that's not American but it is clever and cheesey), religious pop paraphenalia (like my HolyLand Heroes action figures), silly things that my friends have given me (like my James Watson bobblehead doll), very kitschy coffee mugs, and.... action figures of various characters named "Lilith." I have three now. :D

Top three prized kitschy possessions:
3) floaty pen commemorating the OJ Simspon slow speed chase down the 405 freeway
2) PeeWee Herman doll who says "I know you are but what am I?" (amongst other things) when you pull the string in his back
1) Mr. Spock teddy bear from the Star Trek experience in Vegas

Ooooh yes, books! That's so engrained into me that I don't even consider it to be collecting. Buying books is like buying food! I'm wall to wall books. Makes moving to new homes a pain in the behind!

Old Woodworking tools, but only if they are useful, and I can restore them to function as new.
Old Cameras, especially those that I had in the past. unfortunately while some were not worth a light when I got rid of them, some are now too expensive to replace.
Just shows that you should hang on to tools of the trade. if they were good enough for a professional in the past, one day they will be worth something.
