I just dont separate it. "Whatever" in the OP you like to call it is your preference. Thats why I list them all. Not Everyone likes the word religion. You just showed me that.

Why the hostility? I gave options for a reason. If I just said religion, people would flip. Calm down. Sheesh.
Like I said: I don't like it when people try to co-opt my worldview.

Okay. I have another question for you guys. Define each of the words:

Raeligion
Path
Faith
Spirituality
Practice
Whatever

How do You view these words not from the dictionary please.
Religion: "a community of shared belief and practice, usually focused on a god, pantheon of gods, or something viewed as 'supernatural'."
Path: "what a person actually does and is over the course of their life."
Faith: varies, but in this context, something like "a set of beliefs that a person accepts based on loyalty or allegiance (i.e. rather than facts or evidence)."
Spirituality: no definition at all. I think it's a completely useless word.
Practice: "what a person does repeatedly, with intention."
Whatever: varies. ;)

Nice. I like those definitions. Spirituality a useless word. Eh.

Yes... if we're treating it as a real word with a real meaning. In practice, it seems like the people who use it mean something like "the collection of things I think are vaguely positive or 'deep' but that I don't want to critically examine or justify rationally."

I like that. Cop-out word?

...someone ask your religion/faith/path/practice/spirituality/whatever?

Im a left-handed christo-pagan?
A buddhist muslim agnostic?
A Catholic Witness?
A right wing christian?

What would you tell someone your RFPPSW is?

I can't remember the last time anyone asked me. It might have something to do with the kippah.

If, however, someone were to ask, I'd say I'm a Jew.

It's just stuff,
we trip over it every day.
I curse all the stuff I trip over,
and try to avoid the pits.
From whence comes worship ?
From whence comes gods ?
I feel that the religions are the pits !
Step around, appreciate stuff,
it needs no worship !

Depends very much on the context of the conversation. Sometimes I'll just go with "tree-hugging dirt-worshipper", "nature worshiper" or "religious naturalist" because the people I'm around will get what I mean by that better than a term like "Neopagan" or "Druid."

Atheist.
That usually surprises people (in RL). Buggered if I know why, although I could guess, I suppose.

I know. I know. Yall dont want to label yourselves. Dont worry. Posting isnt cement. Was going to put this in jokes/games. Couldnt make up my mind. Pretend if you like.

What would you tell someone your RFPPSW is?

Example post 39

i tell them i am spiritual and not religious.

If they want to go into it further i point out that almost by definition, religion is a fail. It is the watered down and incomplete teachings of someone who had a serious connection to the Divine. That we don't make tons of Christ's, Buddha's, or other enlightened beings through the religious process (almost seems those who DO wake up do so IN SPITE of their religion) shows how the original connection has lost ......... validity? Coherence? Understanding? Completion?...............

Most religions have lost their spiritual origins so deeply that they are for the most part social, business, or political groups - and essentially devoid of Divine connection...

For me, it depends on who asks. But I would say that most often I find myself saying something to the effect of "no good will come of talking to me about this".

Like a few others, it really depends on who's asking and why. If somebody I don't know asks then I'll usually tell them I'm agnostic. The vast majority of people don't know to ask "agnostic what?" so it's usually a safe, non-committal answer.
I'll describe myself as either a pagan/nature worshipper or a pantheist to people I know a little better. In truth, I'm not certain I could really be considered a pantheist, but most people can understand the basic gist of holding that the universe is God.
To a very rare few I might go into a bit more detail regarding my practices and beliefs. I'm fascinated by the "dark" side of nature and a lot of people aren't comfortable with that. I tend to be careful who I share that with as understanding it requires a fair bit of background knowledge that average Joe is unlikely to possess. It can be pretty exhausting to try and bring somebody up to speed.

Of course, online I can be a bit more open. RF allows for a certain degree of anonymity and members tend to have a better than average knowledge of religion and different forms of theism.

I'm still trying to figure it out, but right now I would at least say Heathen, though I'm still trying to figure things out with me and the Gods
