What do you think about pain?

There are some types of physical pain that I seek or have sought out, the pain of pushing ones body to it's limit or the pain of contact sport.
I have learned valuable things from emotional pain.
Yet when pain is mentioned my gut reaction is that it is something I try my hardest to avoid. I think it might be because I associate pain with sickness but I don't know.

I don't know what pain is. What if it is something most people would say it hurts, but you don't mind it, but can still feel it? Is it still pain? Or can something be pain to someone and not to someone else?

sure just watch a reality serie, one person is in horible pain from watching that amount of garbage and the other is "ok"

though i like pain, my body produces more then the average amount of painkilling hormones so if i stub my toe i get an all natural "high" (no i don't hurt myself on purpose to trigger it)

I equally dislike physical and emotional pain but learning to cope with emotional pain in my life has made me stronger. I have low tolerance for physical pain but feel that even learning to deal with it can build character.

Pain is your bodies way of saying, "Stop doing that"!

Or your subconsious way of saying, "Maybe you should look at this".

Or your significant other's way of saying....

...ok, nobody's figured that one out yet.
Nevermind.

Maybe we should love pain?Like we love everything else..and then maybe it wont hurt so bad?

Just an idea..

But then we would be weirdos.Which is painful.

There is no escaping pain.

a friend of mine has a saying that pain is weakness leaving the body. It is a saying that I have come to believe and seek to put into practice, that any pain or discomfort one feels is weakness leaving person, is that person becoming stronger, provided the person does not give into the pain or discomfort they are experiencing.

I think thats a great theory. But I'm not buying it.

This theory blames a human for "giving in" ..and what exactly is that by the way? "giving in?

Where in what MW said does it say it blames someone for giving in? I don't see those words anywhere in there. All it say is that though Pain one gets rid of one weakness, unless they given in which case they don't get rid of it. The more one pushes oneself the further one can pushes themself next time they do something. And that works.

People who give into pain are not weak. Whatever or whoever causes the pain is weak.

Read it again, it never says the Person is weak. Just that Pain is weakness leaving the body. So when you push yourself you get stronger. Nor does it imply that they someone is causing it is weak, but you say Whatever or whoever. So what if you are pushing yourself to your limits and that is causing pain, then by what you say you are weak for causing the pain by pushing yourself.
