What do you think about the New age movement?

Mostly pretty silly, in my personal opinion. As @Vinayaka says, mostly a mishmash, all sorts of untestable notions with no guilding themes -- sort of a buffet from which everybody can pick what they like, ignore what they don't care for, and nobody allowed to say they're right or wrong. Very democratic, for that, though.

I'm fond of an Alan Watts quote that I think can be applied to it: "It's a way to bamboozle silly women" and separate them from their money. Have you seen the prices on those New Age "seminars"?

Example: Retreat Rates - Western Spirit Enrichment Center
I hadn't really cognized how feminine it is until now, but that's certainly an observation I share, now that I think about it. I've been in some new age book stores, from both in the early 70s until now. I don't dare start up a conversation, as I inevitably seem to run into know-it-alls.

What do you think about the New age movement?
I didn’t realize the New Age movement was still around. I just figured most of what was New Age was passé or had become mainstream, some practices even “Christianized’.
I was involved in the New Age, but that
was more than thirty years ago. I consider the New Age basically a conglomerate of weird, deceptive, occult practices and ideas. But God used it to show me the incredible darkness behind the deceiving light. That’s how I came to realize how desperately I needed Jesus Christ to save me.

Save you from what? Was there a court case against you?
As a matter of fact, yes. There was a court case against me, since according to the Judge of heaven and earth, the penalty of sin is death. Jesus saved me from the devil who was manipulating my life like a puppet on a string. One either belongs to the devil and is his captive heading…
…into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels,
or saved and set free by Jesus Christ from sin, the devil, and death for eternity.

I'm mostly indifferent. New Age covers a wide variety of beliefs and practices and most of them don't really mean all that much to me. It's mostly harmless so each to their own.

The things I take issue with tend to be the more extreme elements such as cults, conspiracy theories and truly terrible health advice.

I'm still confused about what exactly it is. I pretty much missed the New Age experience. I decided after I graduated highschool that painting pentagrams on walls and smashing stuff wasn't enough. I had to take it as far as I could without breaking any laws if possible.

Sounds so beautiful.
That is exactly what you are supposed to think.

The Beautiful Side of Evil, by Tohanna Michaelsen, is very aptly named. Darkness can have an outer covering, so to speak, of luminosity that can appear to be inexpressibly beautiful. The power of darkness can feel wonderfully beauteous, too. Satan and his demonic legions are masterful counterfeiters who can make darkness appear to be light…

From “ Inside the New Age Nightmare “ by Randall Baer…
“The luminosity of darkness can be so bright that it bedazzles to the point of blindness and mesmerizes to the point of brainwashing. This is exactly what happened to me, and what is happening today to all those involved in the New Age Movement.

One night, while in the Ascension Chamber, my spirit was roaming some of the farthest reaches of "heavenly light" that I had ever perceived. That night I had an experience that would change my life forever.

During this experience I was surrounded by a virtually overwhelming luminosity - it was as if I was looking straight into the sun.

Waves of bliss radiated through my spirit. I was totally captivated by the power.

Suddenly, another force stepped in. It took me by complete sur-prise. In the twinkling of an eye, it was like a supernatural hand had taken me behind the scenes of the experience that I was having. I was taken behind the outer covering of the dazzling luminosity and there saw something that left me literally shaking for a full week.

What I saw was the face of devouring darkness! Behind the glittering outer facade of beauty lay a massively powerful, wildly churning face of absolute hatred and unspeakable abominations - the face of demons filled with the power of Satan.

For a moment that seemed like an eternity, I realized that I was in major league trouble, for this devouring force was now closing in on me.”

Having spent quite a bit of time in spiritual communities, I have met many. On the whole I was not impressed. The roots of many of their interests lie in very interesting areas, but conversation was limited as a rule, as very few seemed inclined to really get into a topic and their knowledge accordingly was limited. Everything was a pinch of astrology, a spoonful of crystals, a hint of yoga, and so on. I did find that they all seemed to be very optimistic, cheerful people.
