What do you think of ISIS/Islamic State?

Hey everyone. What do you think of ISIS, also known as Islamic State, which has control of parts of Syria and Iraq. Do you believe it is a real caliphate? Also, I'd appreciate a little basic information on Muslim theology concerning caliphates and such.

I'm sorry to say that i know little about them.

For me this Islamic State is not credible.
This is something that we have already seen in north africa when some proclamed to be "Emir" , they killed the muslims, the christians each time having a "good excuse" and trying to justify their crimes, and we know that majority of them were just bandits. Some even said they regret what they did, some are still in the mountains and desert kidnapping people and doing i-don't-know what.

I've seen that some of them want christians out of the Sham region.
The ن they tag in the doors of christian's houses ... it's incredible. When you see that, you know it doesn't make any sense and you can't take them seriously.

I'll try to search a little bit about them when i have time, and see what arab analysists/journalists/imams say about them inchallah.

In the name of Allah. Salam sister zoogirl02, I believe these short videos summarize my stance towards them. But I need to note that they contain some disturbing graphics.

A shia scholar says, I don't like the God of ISIS, where he means the understanding of God and Religion of extremist Muslims (In Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, etc.) and extremist Christians (in C.A.R., etc) and extremist Jews (in Palestine, etc.) is not the true understanding of God and religion.

Nasr TV - I Don't Like the God of ISIL

Just a quick note on a name you might not be familiar with. Umar bin Sa'd as he refers to was one of the commanders of Yazeed who massacred the flowers (progeny) of Prophet Muhammad (73 of them) in order to get into power.

Here's another short video discussing the similarities between ISIL and Israel:

Nasr TV - Two Sides Of The Same Coin

And a most important one, extremists hijacking of religion:

Nasr TV - Allah Akbar, God Is the Greatest

I hope it helps.

And here's what an Arab Christian has to say:

And salam sister pastek, Arab Sunni Leaders in Iraq and Syria denounce ISIL. And other vigilant sunni leaders such as those in Palestine also do it. Others, sadly sometimes are mistaken and are in support of it, due to misinformation or lack of information about the aim and doings of this takfiri terrorist group.

Not to mention that among them are some aimless, jobless, unhappy youth worldwide who are deceived by filthy promises, that are built upon the bloodshed of the ME nations, plundering their homes and other sources and kidnapping/raping of people.

And there is also a sincere yet idiotic ones among them who are just blinded by the holy names (Islam and Islamic States) these terrorist groups use. And like the friendship of a bear is harmful, friendship of such brainless people are also. They do wrong things thinking they are doing good for the religion.

However, as I said, vigilant sunnis in the region denounces this terrorist group and they join and call people to join the Iraqi and Syrian armies in order to fight with ISIL. Here are some examples:

I hope it helps. Eid mubarak again. And may we see true eids for Muslims and other nations through the annihilation of extremists. ma salam

Wa salam sister. You are welcome. And here's another news about it.

alalam_635392340682363837_25f_4x3.jpg

Iraqi volunteer fighters in Iraqi southern province of Basra.

A Sunni Muslim group called "Ahl al-Sunnah", consisted of eight Sunni tribes in the Iraqi southern province of Basra, has registered to fight against radical militants from the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL).

Al-Alam correspondent in Basra reported on Tuesday that fighters from eight Sunni tribes registered the "Ahl al-Sunnah" group to cooperate with the army in their fight against the ISIL militants.

Sheikh Muhammad Blasem, head of the Waqf Office for Sunni Muslims in Basra, told Al-Alam reporter that the group is going to fight for protecting Iraqi people under the command of Iraqi security forces.

Iraqi forces continue their battle against the ISIL Takfiri group, which is threatening to take its acts of violence to several Iraqi cities, including Baghdad.

On June 10, the ISIL militants took control of Mosul, the capital of Nineveh Province. They later took control of the city of Tikrit, located about 140 kilometers (87 miles) northwest of Baghdad.

Hundreds of thousands of volunteer fighters have formed defense groups to help their army fight against Takfiri militants.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has said that his country will contain terrorists and get over the ‘conspiracy’ that has already taken hundreds of lives.

A UN report said on Tuesday that more than a thousand people have been killed in the recent unrest only between June 5 to 22.

ISIS is just another group of punks who think they have the rights because their own personal view of an ancient book says so. Hopefully their uprising will be quickly crushed, and their reign of terror and destruction brought to an end.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I really appreciate it. I had looked for Sunni Islamic condemnations of ISIS but was not able to find any. I appreciate you posting these.

ISIS is just a group of terrorists looking for power. They should be stopped, and they have nothing to do with Islam except for the name they claim they go under.

I have been kind of thinking this myself because of the criminal activities that they do for fundraising. Doesn't Islam forbid kidnapping and such?

Yes, Islam forbids kidnapping and almost everything I know ISIS is doing.

I was wrong giving them the benefit of the doubt before when I knew nothing about them thinking they had a noble cause :(

Yeah I would have to say that I agree with you. Islam definitely forbids the indiscriminate murder of civilians. ISIS is just some terrorist group in my opinion.

I hope I can post in this DIR. If my post doesnt comply with forum rules, please delete it mods.

ISIS is a well organized and well trained Islamist Army, if you will. Possibly the most powerful Jihadist group and most cruel and extremist too, considering that even Al Qaeda has denounced it. But most importantly its making a already messy Mid East more messy. They have got thousands of Islamists from all over the world fighting in Iraq and Syria. Then there numerous Sunni and Shia militias fighting ISIS. And dont forget the Iraqi Govt and Kurds too. But most importantly we are seeing USA and UK fighting again in Iraq, with Russia providing arms and planes to Iraqi Govt and Iran too helping Shia militias. USA, UK, Iran and Russia all having to some extent a common enemy. Can you believe that? And if ISIS manages to attack Israel and thats not totally unrealistic folks, consisering that it is gained a foothold in Lebanon, this mess could escalate into serious global warfare.

I will be glad to discuss ideas about how to move toward peace, with moderate posters, here in the Sunni DIR.

There could be a certain irony, in that I was driven from the Judaism DIR because of my wish to reach for new ideas.

I am willing to discuss ideas about peace, anywhere and anytime. I have no conditions.

I personally welcome any rational and respectful members to join the discussion, but I'm not sure if I can go under the running definition of Sunni, plus my critical position in risking doing it, allow me to do that.

Better safe than sorry, you know.

Sorry about that :(

No problem. But i doubt there could be peace in a near future, i think unfortunately people will live under this chaos some years again.

Phil25, save your zion comments for other threads. The aim of this DIR is to allow Muslims to share Islamic teachings and discuss the issues. And also to allow non-muslims to ask and learn about our religion and our views. But nothing else.

And don't worry, ISIS won't attack the criminal Zionist entity. Rather these two criminal movements work hand in hand to destroy Muslims, Christians, etc. in the region.

I call on you, Matemkar, to join me, as a peace loving, Islamic reform Jew, and call for the elimination of ISIS and other terror groups.

Are you brave enough to stand with me ?
