What Do You Think Of Macho?

"Macho" to me is synonymous with men who think with what's between their legs, and consider all the shallow, vain, empty and pitiful things in life to be of great value.

that's just it...macho is society's wisdom portraying how they feel a man should be. This is the essence of vanity and is not the image that God wants us to have.

We (Mexicans) practically invented the word. This is macho:

An outward, perhaps even exaggerated, display by a male of the characteristics and behaviors that society generally thinks of as "masculine." (This might vary a little from society to society and thus the traits that constitute "macho" might vary a little as well.)

I think that it is one way to be in the world, no better and no worse. If I thought differently (either thinking that it was better or worse) I would be upholding one way of being as preferable. That would not allow people to be and express who they truly are.

Macho macho man.... I wanna be a macho!

Do you think macho can be what someone truly is? Or, is it more of a put on?

"Macho" denotes "Manly Qualities". "Manly Qualities" are qualities that make men attractive to women: Intelligence, Sense of Humor, Brute Strength, Confidence, Self-Reliance, Wisdom, Physical Attractiveness, Good Health, and Courage. What do I think of it? I wish I could be more “Macho”.

I do think some men have a genuine tendency towards hyper-masculinity.

For other men it might be a "put on" but I would have to decide on a case by case basis, actually getting to know the person. Certainly, I don't think that men should feel compelled to be macho.

People should be encourage to find and be who they truly are - that includes the prom queen in the pink chiffon as well as the leather clad dyke as well as the androgyne as well as the shy, sensitive guy as well as Arnold Schwarzenneger.
