What do you think of this religion?

So funny that I by believing in God, not only do I deal with the "hell" situation, by I also live a more satisfied life.

I gotta say, it sucks to be an atheist =)

Dr.Pim van Lommel is just one man and his opinion. that is not proof in any way shape or form.

It's not an "opinion" it's a medical event.

Another mystery, it's sad that you don't know what to do with knowledge, you just, oh thats just an opinion even though it makes sense and poses a good question, one good logical thing isint enough.

it is only the dr's opinion in which the conclusion is that it is not proof.

if there is more evidence and a general opinion from many i would say this deserves more research.

i dont place all my eggs in one basket for somthing that requires faith and imagination to "tie" something that so far has never been shown to exist.

NDE's are powerful hallucinations. Chemicals are released in the brain at these times.

People report many of the same types of hallucinations associated with LSD effects ( Not the same as with NDE's but similar relative to LSD trips ). These LSD effects are not proof of a collective conscience either, as NDE's are not proof of a soul or 'other side'.

Indeed, but he dosen't get that.

Relativity ftw.

What? How does that equal a win for relativity, just because theres varying concepts of a "soul" how does that mean all soul concepts are true therefore relativity is true?

No relativity is not true, you have not demonstrated it to be such so there is no "relativity ftw."

No Atheists allowed in this thread, don't want to get "stuck" on the science side, they are too pessimistic for me

Hi there, I'm 17 years old and from Puerto Rico, so keep in mind my english will not be perfect! Tonight I was thinking about life, the point of it, God's role in it, purpose about everything and so forth.

I decided to simplify and "organize" one could say, my life; and so I decided to make my own religion, a plan for a life's quest, as thousands have.

The 4 points of my religion:

1- Feel satisfied with the love in your life, when you are in love, it's one of the most powerful, if not in fact THE most powerful feeling one can obtain, the attraction, the care, towards that special someone, etc.

By feeling satisfied I mean to simply think, I have my wife, I love her, she loves me and she is gorgeous, (relative to everyone's definition and preferences).

I believe that you SHOULD get in many aspects of life what you deserve, if you want a gorgeous girl, make yourself gorgeous, stay in shape, be healthy, take care of yourself, some religions do this like the christians saying it is the temple of Christ and so forth, mine is to feel satisfied with yourself, in order to find a person that you truly deserve.

2- Feel satisfied with those thoughts of "God". I think that it is imposible for there NOT to be something supernatural or a creator, energy cannot be destroyed, it cannot be created, simply transformed. Yet, we are here, obviously there HAD to be something, someone, many Gods, maybe just one, just something.

Now comes the tricky part; you know there has to be something, but alas, the universe is inmense and literally beyond comprehension to be able to "measure". So do you think this creator would affect your miniscule life(in comparison to the universe) and care for you? Now that to me, is faith.

I have faith. I believe that sometimes what people clasify as luck, coincidences, circumstances, any variables at all, may simply be random, I think, I have faith that a wonferdul being, may sometimes swing a couple of things your way, that to me is a God worth believing in, one that cares.

3- Daily Satisfaction, your car, your tv, your audio gear, movies, garden, house, anything that might count as something materialistic, a hobby, something that you might do very often, a goal in my life would be to feel satisfied with these aspects of every-day life. I'm not talking about getting a Ferrari to feel satisfied, i'm simply saying that if you want to be happy, at least me, I want to be able to feel satisfied, like say "this is good enough "

You might not be able to get a 200,000$ Ferrari, but you might get a Subaru that does 0-60 mph in less than 6 seconds for less than 1/4th of the price, depends on your ambition and many other variables.

This is applicable to so many things, people have relative feelings of satisfaction, preferences, some people pay 500 dollars for headphones to feel satisfied about their quality because it is something they use more in their life, some won't pay more than 50 because it's not such a huge aspect in their lfie, its all RELATIVE TO YOU! The important thing is to feel satisfied, think that it is good enough, and have a smile; ultimately, be at peace.

4- Knowledge satisfaction, this includes politics, ethics, education and more.

Like I said, it's quite relative, but I know my ethics, I know when something is right or wrong, or that it at least feels that way.

Some feel comfortable with their High-school education, my grandparents made a 150 million fortune with it, my parents on the other hand, made their doctor's degree in philosofy and are happy enough living with their "not rich status"

I know that some people have different views of the world and what's fair, what's not, but this is a religion for you, with your views, this is your life, your quest, to me, what I perceive as what God probably wants out of you, is to feel SATISFIED, be happy, overcome challeenges and obstacles, gain knowledge about the things and people that you love and are passionate about.

Simply put, LIVE.

Please help me refine this thought I had this night, it might have potential.

Thank you all.

If this is your religion i'm afraid you will never be satisfied.

It sounds like the perfect religion for a shallow, sheltered teenager who has an extremely limited perspective of the world.
