What does a tattoo say about a person?

I'm sure many of us have tattoos, but I'm curious what people think tattoos say about a person.

Depends on the individual. They either speak to a deep connection someone has with something or how short-sighted they are.

Depends on the person, the tattoo, where the tattoo is, if it was a gift or they paid for it themselves, how old the person is when they got it, if they were drunk when they got it,if they got it for their loved ones, or many other factors.

But in short, a tattoo says "this is what my human wanted on them at the time"

What a tattoo says about a person depends heavily on the image itself, the culture the person lives in, and where the tattoo is on the body.

In America, visible tattoos on both arms can be an indication of a person belonging to Punk culture, Biker culture, or any other rebel cultures. However, a single tattoo here or there can mean pretty much anything. A friend of mine has the Kanji letter for "love" on her ankle. An acquaintance of mine visited Norway, and fell in love with white pine cones. She wanted to take a piece of that with her, but I guess her parents disapprove of tattoos, so she got a pine cone tattoo on her side, which is normally covered by clothing.

In Japan, tattoos are heavily associated with Yakuza(basically the Japanese mafia), so the presence of visible tattoos are a demonstration that the person is basically telling mainstream Japanese culture to go **** itself, whereas a hidden tattoo could either indicate a secret desire to join a Yakuza family, or at least a secret admiration and love for Yakuza. But in virtually all cases, there's a connection with Yakuza. (So if you have a tattoo and plan to ever visit Japan, make sure that puppy stays hidden!!)

I don't have any tattoos of my own, but after learning that they were a very common form of body art for Celto-Germanic people (particularly Swedish Vikings), I've been semi-half-considering getting one that expresses my association with my ancestors, but probably still won't simply due to the costs.

My desires to go to Japan is the only reason I still only have one tattoo. But I think once I get back I am getting covered with them.

I always said that I was going to get a tattoo of my arm onto my leg, to confuse the hell out of people.

That they're a bit shortsighted. Years from now there's going to be a whole lot of regret going on.

Edited to correct a typo.

Other than I love The Sickness album, Disturbed was one of the first things I got into after I ceased being a Christian.

By that logic, your entire body will age, falter, and won't be as good as it was when you were young. So why even bother taking care of yourself since everything ends anyways? Just because it seems dumb and makes no sense to you doesn't mean that others are fully informed of their decisions. Just because you think there is going to be alot of regret going on doesn't mean that there actually will be.

I'm intending to get a tattoo on my entire body, of myself, only with a nicer ***.

A recent survey in Britain showed employers were less likely to hire people with visible tattoos, especially to work with the public. In the days when I hired people, that would certainly have been my reaction, not that I can remember ever having a candidate with one — well, not that they were prepared to display at an interview.

Another puzzling post.

I don't regret a single one of my tattoos, and never will.
And hopefully you never will.
