What does being a 'servant of God' entail to you?

I think that the story in John about when Jesus washed His disciples feet is a great example. I don't mean that we should literally wash each other's feet, but to be a servant to each other. I think it also means to be humble. For instance, most people seem to like it better when a person has beauty, great intelligent, or some great talent but are not vain about it or knows that having those things doesn't make one better.
Jesus was better than all His disciples combined, and yet He washed their feet. No one who calls Jesus their savior should think they are too good to wait upon someone who they believe below them. There is no place for vanity in Christianity.

As do I. Does the words of Mosiah; a prophet from the Book of Mormon sum it up in the right way, "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God" (Mosiah 2:17)

How does a Christian become humble?

A Christian becomes humble by understanding that God is greater than he/she is. Also, a Christian will understand that any person at all can be saved and that it doesn't matter how long you are saved, 50 minutes or 50 years, the reward is the same. Recall that parable that Jesus told about the vineyard workers who all got the same payment for different amounts of work.

That is good, Armannd. From reading the New Testament I get that we serve God by serving others (such as the orphans and widows). :) You hit it right on the head.

so then who are christs brothers ? because it seems from the bible that to be a sheep who will inherit everlasting life, we would have to help christs brothers , which to me would mean that christs brothers are already christians . but some people refuse to help christs brothers in a spiritual way , even refusing to accept that they are christs brothers at all.
"When the Son of man arrives in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit down on his glorious throne. And all the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate people one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will put the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on his left." In this parable, Jesus showed that those thus given attention by the King would be judged on the basis of how they dealt with his "brothers." (Matthew 25:31-46) Who are these brothers? They are spirit-begotten Christians who are therefore "God’s sons." Jesus is God’s firstborn Son. Hence, they are Christ’s brothers. They are "the slaves of our God" mentioned at Revelation 7:3, the ones chosen from among humankind to share with Christ in his heavenly Kingdom.—Romans 8:14-17. so then , recognizing and helping christs brothers is the way to go , because it will lead to everlasting life . but many who are in opposition to christs brothers ,try to lead people away from christs brothers , and slander them , and the true God and Jesus christs eyes are roving around all the earth and examining all men , as to if they are doing good or bad to christs brothers . and the ones who are doing bad to christs brothers know just who they are , and so do Jehovah and Jesus christ . and i am glad that it will only be Jehovah and Jesus christ who will have the final say . because they can read hearts as to if a person is wicked or not.

Yawn: Who is Jehovah??? You must mean Yahweh! A servant of God entails living a life of faith, hope, and charity on the followers part. Not always perfectly will this happen and sometimes people will sin and fall, but then again that is why God(Christ) instituted the sacrament of reconcilliation.

faith ,hope,
Says Romans 15:4: "All the things that were written aforetime were written for our instruction, that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope.
Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld," says the Bible. (Hebrews 11:1) Therefore, hope is not just incidental to faith; it is an essential element of faith.
The Scriptures repeatedly show that those who hope and trust in Jehovah never lose out. (Proverbs 3:5, 6; Jeremiah 17:7)
"Now, however, there remain faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:13)

I'm not dissagreeing with your understanding of biblical hope here. I am only saying that Jehovah is Not Gods name. Yahweh is! Most Jewish encyclopedias and Christian Scholars can tell you that.

I hate to say it, but it is true that "Jehovah" is a mistranslation of God's name. I learned this in a college class I took awhile back. His true name is YHWH which means "I Am That I Am"

God itself is a title for a higher being. When asked his proper name God told Moses, tell them that "I AM" has sent me unto you. The proper hebrew for I AM is, Yod, hey, Vaw, Hey. His name though is considered very sacred, the preists wold not dare to speak it and to pronounce it wrong. Therefore they ascribed the title Adoani "Lord" to the true name of God. So that whenever we see GOD or LORD in all capitlas in the Old Testament it's actual reading is Y H V H. Just like any other word, Y H V H, is transliterated into English as Jehovah. Is this wrong? Of course not, we do the same with the name of Jesus. Jesus comes from the greek Iesous, and the Hebrew Yehoshua. A proper translation of of the actual name of Jesus would be Joshua (Yehoshua), however, having transliterated it from greek, we have the name of the Son of God being Jesus (Yeshua).

So Jehovah is not a mistranslation of the proper name of God. It's just a transliteration of the hebrew form of his name into the english form of his name. If we want to be proper, we could say that only Y H V H is his proper name. But we could logically argue the same for Jesus ( proper- Yehoshua) or Peter ( proper Cephas) or John ( proper yoananon) or Mary (proper mariam), the list goes on and on. All names within the Bible including Jehovah are accurate considering English.

A proper pronounciation of Jehovah would rather be Yehovah, not Jehovah ( pronounce J's and Y's in hebrew)

see: http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Names_of_G-d/YHVH/yhvh.html

When reading the proper name of God in the hebrew text, although it is written as Y H V H, adonai will be properly spoken.

if i spoke the hebrew language then i would say Yahweh but as i speak English i will say Jehovah. the same as i say Jesus in English not
Yeshua (or perhaps Yehoshua).
and it is the same way with"Jeremiah," not Yir·meya´hu. Similarly we say Isaiah, although in his own day this prophet likely was known as Yesha‛·ya´hu. Even scholars who are aware of the original pronunciation of these names use the modern pronunciation, not the ancient, when speaking about them. if you were having a conversation with someone and in the middle of the conversation suddenly used a word from another language it would be a bit strange dont you think ? Jehovah is English so i speak English, and psalm 83 ;18 tells us Gods name in English.

In the Hebrew language it is written
yhwh.gif
. These four letters, called the Tetragrammaton, are read from right to left in Hebrew and can be represented in many modern languages as YHWH or JHVH. God's name, represented by these four consonants, appears almost 7,000 times in the original "Old Testament," or Hebrew Scriptures.
The name is a form of a Hebrew verb ha·wah' (
hwh.gif
), meaning "to become," and actually signifies "He Causes to Become." * Thus, God's name identifies him as the One who progressively fulfills his promises and unfailingly realizes his purposes. Only the true God could bear such a meaningful name.

Pardon May? In English we pronounce Y as Y....not as J?
In Slavonic and older languages J is pronounced Y........
So that means Ieosus which can mean "man beast" (i found) isn't his name....
So changing it to a whole new word doesn't mean it changes....
I travel and am Zanda; it stays Zanda.....I do not become Alejandro in Spanish even though i sort of like the sound....as i do not respond to a name that is not my own....
