I'm fairly proud that it asked me "Are you human?" in Russian and I read it normally.

It is asking me for my phone number, and that I will not do at all. If someone could enter in "Heathenry" and "Norse Paganism" I would be grateful.

Explain Norse Paganism

"Norse paganism, also known as Old Norse religion, was the religious belief system of the ancient Scandinavian people. It was based on the worship of gods, goddesses, and various other supernatural beings such as elves, dwarves, and giants. The religion had a strong emphasis on rituals and sacrifices, usually performed in outdoor temples or at home, to honor and appease the gods. The most well-known gods in Norse paganism include Odin, Thor, Freyja, and Loki. The beliefs and practices of Norse paganism were eventually replaced by Christianity, but elements of the old religion have been preserved in folklore and popular culture".

Explain Heathenry

"Heathenry, also known as Heathenism, is a modern religious movement that seeks to revive and reconstruct aspects of pre-Christian Nordic and Germanic paganism. It is a polytheistic belief system that reveres the gods and goddesses of the ancient Norse and Germanic pantheons, including Odin, Thor, Freyja, and others. Heathens often celebrate the traditional festivals and holidays of the pre-Christian Norse calendar and place emphasis on community, personal honor, and ancestral traditions. Heathenry is a decentralized religion, and there is no central authority or set of beliefs that all practitioners follow. Instead, individuals and groups may interpret the religion in their own way and follow different paths within the broader Heathen tradition".

Well, they need to get with the times that Norse Paganism was revitalized in the 1970's, but pretty spot on-ish. Heathenry is on-point.

It said I have to create an account to access the software. Not doing that. But thanks.

Uhh. I didn't go to page two. I swear. Even though it is my thread I keep getting beat out by others who are willing to create an account and share ChatGPT's infinite knowledge.

I'll take additional requests if anyone else wants to know its Wikipedia-type knowledge.

Interesting that it gives different answers. One clarification: Odinism is the bad side of Heathenry, and is where all the white supremacists go. It is also known as Folkish Heathenry.

As I understand it, the idea that Giants figured in Norse mythology is a misnomer based on a faulty understanding of the term "Jötnar", which would be better understood as a reference to beings more accurately described as "anti-gods": beings of the same type, and roughly the same size, as the gods but who stand in opposition to them.

According to Chat GPT I can consider my belief in Exaltism a religion.

Although Chat GPT does not know what Exaltism is.

I am having fun with this program! :D

More fun to come later...

Apparently Chat GPT doesn't believe anyone can live forever...

Why be a stick in the mud over it? I was impressed by it.

I work in higher ed; I'm going to be a "stick in the mud" about a tool that's poised to create very significant problems in education. That and I know enough about machine learning to not be impressed by machine learning just in general, especially when it is applied in ways that are as dangerous as this will become. But that's for a different thread...

Reminds me of a short I watched on YouTube recently.

@Quintessence Feel free to derail this thread into the dangers of machine learning. We're already into the second page and a thread about AI is still talking about AI. At least I'm glad we haven't gone down various rabbit holes that this forum goes through, yet....

Not really. In fact, the jötnar work with the Æsir more often than not. They host many feasts, host Óðinn many times in his quests for knowledge, and even are counted among the Æsir (not counting half-jötnar) in Loki, Skaði and others. It would be more accurate to say that Óðinn, in his greed for knowledge, was anti-jötnar.

So you just want to be overly stubborn and hold it guilty even though it's done nothing?
From what I checked out, like or not, it's better than most people. Amd there's nothing wrong with that. If an AI can give us good, solid info that seems to lack human bias and error I have a hard time seeing this as a bad thing.
Technology is has already been radically adjusting our economy, and we need to start embracing it instead of fighting it. Things like this spell doom for most jobs. We need to start yesterday building a ship to sail those seas because the need for this may be in the lifetime of many alive today.

I hope we get AI Jeopardy one day and the three most 'intelligent' AI gets the most difficult questions to answer. All I know is when I play Trivial Pursuit Live against the AI half of the time I lose and when I do win it's usually because I'm lucky.

Question Everything
As we all know AI is slowly starting to be more intelligent, more conversational, more human-like. Although, no human would ever know everything an AI already knows. However, ChatGPT, has been shown to give different responses to the same questions, and is able to conversate better than other artificial intelligences. And since it is still free (with now a paid option you don't need to pay for, yet) to use the website that hosts the AI, I figure we should have a thread about how it perceives religion, and more specifically, the religion that you happen to believe in.

So I asked ChatGPT what it knew about Earthseed. Below I will copy and paste its answer and share it with others. And by the way, I fully agree with its detailed answer.

View attachment 71375

So, this is what ChatGPT has to say about Earthseed, and honestly, its answer makes me proud to be a member of that religion.

Get creative with this. If you are a Christian, ask it about your denomination or church you attend.

So, what does ChatGPT say about your religion?

BTW, ChatGPT can be accessed from this website. :)

I was looking for what book to download next, just grabbed a copy of parable of the sower, thanks for posting :)

Needless personal character remarks aside (c'mon now, seriously SW?), folks can take a gander at this article for a bit of an inside scoop on what ChatGPT has done: ChatGPT sparks debate on how to design student assignments now
It's been coming. Why wasn't this prepared for ahead of time?
We're being beat at our own game. This thread showed me we missed the target goal time for a smooth transition to a new world of a new economy and new societies.

In any case, they aren't giants. :p
