What does God look like?

Tiapan

Grumpy Old Man
Who are you quoting? They are incorrect.God is a spirit form.He is invisible.Humans cannot see Him.When it speaks of in the image of God it does not mean literally. Not His physical appearance. It speaks of God's qualities. His attributes.Love,Wisdom,Justice and Power.

Are not fairies and unicorns invisible also, does God have a mass?
If he has no mass then it must be energy, in which case...
What are his enthalpy and entropy values, what is God's frequency or wavelength?

Cheers

We do not now exactly, but there are some properties and attributes mention in the Quran. God has a face and a hand, He gets angry and happy, does not sleep nor gets sleepy... but we do not know the nature of it. It also says that he is a one, so He is not everywhere, but his knowledge and power can reach every where.

Those are my beliefs and what the Quran says. I'm not imposing them on others as true facts, I only take them as (a) truth.

It is said that Seraphim stand before the throne of God. They have 6 wings and some of those wings are used to shield God's brilliant radiance from the eyes of created beings because it would destroy us, apparently. So I visualize God as a blinding, brilliant, radiant, infinite light. It fits well with the concepts of the Saints in Heaven being ablaze with the love of God.

Ok, to begin with, I have quite a good foundation in catholicism and christianity having been in a seminary school and a former church leader. and first of all, the article in my honest opinion has not proven anything. It is said there that 'belief in god is a matter of faith not of reason'. If that's the case, I can believe in just anything aside from the Judeo-Christian god, which if a christian could accept would be an act of heresy. Summa itself has a lot of holes in it, and have even used a lot of assumptions, therefore, does not 'prove' anything at all.

So, I have to ask, do you seek the Truth for yourself or do you depend on the Church to tell you what to believe? Thomas Aquinas's summas gave the Church her philosophy although most of the Church rejects it. At least until they want to define doctrine using natural law. I would agree with your except that the Church left Truth along time ago, 1800 years ago. If your foundation comes from Benedict's camp you best try Francis unless you unless you see his teachings fallible. Granted, 2000 years has seen great changes but leaving behind the basic truths means that Christianity is no longer doing God's work.

You are young yet and I dare to say without experience enough to formulate or even understand the history of the Christian Thought. I've spent 40 years studying the Word of God and, the history of Christianity and theology. And, that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Faith is unconditional and belief is conditioned on our indoctrination. If you doubt this you best go back and study the teachings of the Early Church Fathers, the great theologians within a progressing Christianity. You may be speaking, thinking about faith as, Catholic Faith and if you do, you are locked into believing only what the Church teaches you. 2nd Vatican Council has never been fulfilled. I remember when it came down how confused I was as a younger man than you but later discovered truths that today I have to admit would have been valuable to my acceptance of Vatican II.

Again, you have much to learn.

I would be interested in sound words that you would use to justify your response.

Simple question - what does God look like, exactly?

Peace be on you.

FROM HOLY QURAN

[ch6 : v104] Eyes cannot reach Him but He reaches the eyes. And He is the Incomprehensible, the All-Aware.

[ch24:v36] "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The similitude of His light is as a lustrous niche, wherein is a lamp. The lamp is in a glass. The glass is as it were a glittering star. It is lit from a blessed tree — an olive — neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would well-nigh glow forth even though fire touched it not. Light upon light! Allah guides to His light whomsoever He will. And Allah sets forth parables to men, and Allah knows all things full well."

[20:9] "Allah — there is no God but He. His are the most beautiful names."

[42:12] "................................There is nothing whatever like unto Him; and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing."

[112:5] "And there is none like unto Him."

I don't memorize the Quran in full. Please quote about the "laughing" part. (I'm not saying you are wrong)

Please also clarify the incompatibility and contrasts with quotes from the Quran.

The second step was

And after the fatigue
"I'm tired
Here wasthe third step
