What does the Bible say about rape leading to marriage?

I remember years ago at an atheist website some guy asked an atheist something about loving and marrying the guy that rapes you.

An atheist responded, " it depends on how many goats the guy that raped me was going to give to my father".

She said she was alluding to a scripture verse.

Ive read all the OT but don't recall which one that is. Can you help me out?

Either way, there's so much crazy stuff in the scriptures that nobody follows them anyways. if they do follow some of those Old Testament scriptures, I don't care who it is, they are sick, and belong incarcerated for killing adulteresses, idolaters, blasphemers, children who disrespect parents, and people who work on the Sabbath.

Better to Simply follow your conscience and the Golden Rule than the Bible.

Sounds like if you wanna force a girl to be with you, rape her.

Gotta love the Bible, even I am not this creative.
Wait till you have enough shekels of silver to pay her father before you rape her. Or you better be a goat herder who has enough goats that can be traded for silver sheckles! :D

This is why I think most people in the Civilized world in the 21st century, can come up with better systems of morality and law by listening to their heart and conscience, than by letting the Bible (or Qur'an) make their decisions.

So if a dad rapes his daughter he pays himself 50 sheckles and gets a new wife. Gotta love Biblical morality.

The Golden Rule comes from the Bible and Christians don't go by the Levitical law,

This is more a caricature of the Bible Rape is a sin and in 2 Sam 13 the results were disastrous with Amnon and Tamar

It is the woman's choice whether or not to marry and the perpetrator loses rights of divorce

The perpetrator additionally pays a penalty

a quote from Chabad
"
From this the Talmud deduces that the fifty-shekel fine is merely a portion of his obligation; it is the portion he pays for the pleasure he took from his act. But this doesn’t compensate her for her pain, indignity and loss. The Talmud thus infers from this verse that in addition to the fine, the rapist is required to indemnify her for three forms of damage: the indignity she suffered, the pain she endured and the loss she incurred. In all, this amounts to a hefty fine.2

In addition, the rapist is required to marry his victim, and is not permitted to divorce her without her consent. The Talmud explains that this obligation rests on the rapist, not the victim. She is under no obligation to marry him."

I think you mean Deuteronomy 22. Most of the chapter describes different sexual situations, and the one you're alluding to, is about seduction. Like what Shechem did with Dinah, in Genesis. (If an Israelite woman was really being raped, the man was put to death....that's all there is to it.)

Theres multiple versions of The Golden Rule with different points of origin. Some predate the Bible version of it.
Yes. But I believe the versions actually make it different. I could be wrong as I don't know all the versions.

No. He was killed.

Yeah, I know, but that was just humor in my other post. :D

Anyway, no one actually follows this portion of The Bible. Not the Christians, not the Jews... etc. Mostly, for me, it's just poking fun at the insanity of the book.

Some are, for sure. The Confucian version is more like 'Dont do unto others what you don't want done to you.'

Which makes more sense to me, personally.

I believe it would take a great deal of forgiveness. It happens in marriage also. My wife rolled me over in the early morning hours requiring sex which I didn't really want to do since I needed my sleep but I suppose out of love one will allow oneself to be compelled.
