What does your avatar tell about you?

Been reviewing my psychology lessons for the final exams when an interesting thought (well at least to me. :p) suddenly "dawned" to me. I've read that a person's handwritting, fave color, choice of clothes, etc. can tell something about his personality. It's either that person is aware of that aspect in his/her personality or it lies somewhere in his/her subconscious. So yeah, I've wondered if the person's avatar can work the same way. IMO, it is a possibility.

For example, my avatar here on RF is an angel. I chose it personally because it kinda represent me. I chose an angel with a black hair and blackish, brownish eyes to represent my decent, I'm an Asian and proud of it. Just an info, East and South East Asians have black hair and blackish or brownish eyes. The angel also has a sword, indicating that I'm a bit protective on some things (my gf, my family, etc) and that I am an "achiever". I do my best in everything I do, especially my studies. Angel wears white clothes. In that case, that color represents simplicity; and I prefer being simple. Another thing is that the angel I chose is not smiling, hence it represents my serious side. I joke at times, but most of the time, I am serious and quiet (so when I crack a joke here in the forum, it's usually corny. :D). Just sharing.;)

Psychology is a science. Handwriting analysis (graphology) is a pseudoscience. I'm surprised it would be in a psychology course. What next, astrology?!

Mine shows my lack of interest in learning technical stuff and reflects my desire to be considered for my words, not my image. I don't like my image a lot. For facebook I chose a beach scene of a lonely juvenile seagull. It reminds me of Jonathan Livingston Seagull.

And yeah, I chose my avatar only because I want it. But yeah, it kinda represented things in me, unintentionally.

Handwritting analysis, if we are talking about occult practices has relation with predicting future events, solving problems and something like that. In psychology, there's no "analysis" (or something that is "formally accepted")with handwritting really. It simply states that your handwritting might indicate something. If you are tensed for example, there could be some changes in your handwritting, sometimes you cannot even write. Self explanatory.

Magog seems to pertain to this: Graphology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's a different thing. I am quite offended. I had psychology and psychiatric nursing as a part of the course. It seems to me that you think that I kinda mix science and pseudoscience. It's kinda insulting to me. :(

No rushed judgment. I took psychology at uni. Graphology is a pseudoscience. The British Psychological Society ranks it alongside astrology, giving them both 'zero validity' - taken from the Graphology entry in Wikipedia.

Methinks Magog's "fishy" avatar is more closely related to astrology than to graphology. ;)

I could change it. But that would be so typically Piscean...!
You don't hide your Piscean nature very well.

And speaking of Graphology, I've been here almost long enough to get a crayon to write on your wall! :angel2:
