I am a newly awakened conservative-libertarian as a result of the last few years in face of self-serving, faceless, central, bureaucratic, intrusive, unelected, distant, corrupt, unaccountable, pompous, greedy, incompetent, propagandist, closed-door, executive order, failed, obese government socialism in America.

I do not think I am alone, it doesn't matter what the legacy media spins or tells lies about or does not report, the change that is coming will come. I want less government, government should be more local and less central. I am a Rand Paul supporter type awakened citizen, my flavor is Red State. There is no utopia, there is no final solution, everything does not have an "answer". Even libertarians do not have the "answer", but certainly giving more power to government which consists of the same corrupt and selfish humans as found in any corporation is not the "answer" either, it just gives a broader mantel of such power and corruption and stupidity than any single industry may have. Birds of a feather stick together, the same corrupt, pompous, stupid humans in government will soon be hanging out with the same corrupt, pompous, stupid humans in industry, only now their eyes are everywhere and not just in your gas tank. They do not care, they only promise to care.

Former Buckley/Goldwater libertarian-leaning conservative. Later anarcho-capitalist, bur I lost confidence that it would work... but I could return to it given sufficient empirical evidence and not just theory. Now I'd describe myself as a "classical liberal". The major difference between that and a "normal" libertarian is that I'm less ideological, more pragmatic and gradualist.

There are normal libertarians?

My political philosophy is this: each person should do what they want to do, provided no one infringes upon another's rights. There are nuances and need for clarification, but I follow Penn Jillette in asking:

"Can we solve _____ with more freedom?" That isn't always the case, as Penn is quick to point out, but he also says (and I agree) that if someone says, "There oughta be a law," there probably ought not to be a law. Again, there are exceptions.

Welcome to our little sub-forum!
I like PJ (but not in the way you're thinking, bub).
I don't judge. ;)

I discovered P&T through "Bull****!," and I fell in love with the show. Then I discovered Penn is a fellow of the Cato Institute, and I started reading related material. I wrestled with my conversion from Christianity to reality, and P&T walked me through it. Thanks to their influence, I've decided Libertarian Anarcho-Capitalism makes quite a bit of sense to me.

Oh, so you now walk on the dark side, eh?
Welcome aboard!

I'm right there in the vicinity of Liberty's pointy hat.

I'm more of an an anarcho-capitalist liberatarion, where I would see the gov't leave the people alone in the market place as long as one didnt try to take advantage of one by mis-selling their product, leaving society to deal with the problems of the greater good but once the gov't over steps this role to the extreme, violent upheavel is required and try it again until we get it right, if we ever get it right. I'd also see us using our military might to keep the evils of the world in check via fear, I.e., Russia, Iran, North Korea, China, terrorism, whether of a religious nature or of a geo-politcal type, I.e., Makarov style, etc., and if need be, conquer all of the western hemisphere and maybe even the world, I mean we could theoretically do it if we we're to weaponize space Ghosts style. (Kudos if you understand the references)

I also taste of mtn dew, motor oil, and patriotism, and not in that order either

Love everyone, meditate often
I'm curious as to what "flavors" of libertarians we have on the site. Are you a left-libertarian or a right-libertarian? Minarchist? Libertarian socialist? Paleolibertarian? Anarcho-syndicalist?

Personally, I'm somewhere near the libertarian-socialist camp.
I remember when I took a political quiz one time I came out as a classical liberal. So I'm guessing I'm to the left.

I'm mostly the nationalistic, conservative, "primitive patriot" type and just so happen to be born on the 4th of July  Maybe call it Forefathers Libertarianism :D

I don't like to talk politics much on here (or the internet in general) but thought I'd toss this in.

I don't like to use thought boxes on anything because they never seem to truly encompass the totality of much of anything since the Devil truly is in the details, here's a few for me:

-I've paid money into social security for years and I'd like to see most of that after I retire but I don't base my votes on it since I feel that social security should be extra money and not a crutch so gather your nuts ye squirrels

- I don't have a problem with authority, I just don't like being told what I can and can't do and when and where I can do it by less than qualified individuals!
