What form of autority do you have...

What form of autority do you have to speak on behalf a religious faith?

If you are a non believer, on what autority do you have a right to speak for or tell the people who follows a religious teaching that they are wrong, evil, harmful?? Who gave you the right to tell believers what "they should believe" ?

Remember, this is not an attack at anyone, it is a question asked to learn and understand about what give people a right to in negative words critique a belief they them self do not hold.

If authority is deemed loosely akin to justification, the answer is simply that I have studied more than many for longer than many.

Right to free speech provides that right I believe.

I imagine much the same authority as a religious person that tells a non-believer what to believe.

autority. ? Heh..

OK just having a bit of a ribbin....ribbing..... lol.

Anyways do think actual reality has its own authority?

That what I rely on to state how things actually are.

I usually don't tell people what to believe or that their religion is "wrong". I may point out that it is illogic and I guess then my "authority" is Aristotle. When I point out that a religion is immoral that is often "authorized" by Plato/Socrates.

I’m a life long member whose has made a study of the gospel a priority in my life.

In general it’s not my place to tell others what they believe.

unconditional love doesn't allow for the exclusion of enemies. you can believe anything and everything you want. but when self steps over that boundary line and tries to force belief upon another, i'm going to make sure self understands who gets tto be the authority of who over who.

love is the authority. love doesn't force or harm

Why do I need authority to stand up for my rights when religions threaten to violate them?

In my opinion.
I don't say you have to or don't have to. as i said in the OP, this isn't an attack on anyone.
The reason this come up in the first place has to do with certain members constant negativity especially toward Islam.
So I was wondering who gave them the right to tell believers what should be right in their beliefs.
I think the believers already know those answers.

I don't know about authority, but I believe I have not only the right but the duty to critique beliefs, practices, and teachings that I believe to be harmful, immoral, or just plain wrong.

You think it’s your duty to impose your values on those who do not share them?

Bridging the Gap Between Believers and Skeptics
I remember talking to a Messianic about my beliefs in Exaltism and she was like, "I don't believe you have any religious authority so I don't recognize yours." The amount of authority you have over someone else's view points is entirely dependent on them, not you. If I told a stranger my religious view points there's a less likely chance they'd me believe me over, say my hypothetical wife and children. But since I know enough about alternative theologies to probably get an honorary doctorate in it, I believe I have some authority, even if most of that authority is invested unto myself. I have enough self-authority that if someone tells me a convincing argument over their religion, it probably won't change my mind.
