What Have You Learned at RF?

Assuming you joined RF to learn something rather than to proselytize your beliefs, what have you taken away from RF since you joined? What, if anything (aside from @Sunstone's insufferable dissertations about logical fallacies, from @SalixIncendium's awesome fashion sense, and @Rival's apparent apathy toward either) have you learned in your time here?

Do you feel you've grown as a person since you've been here in listening to the worldviews of others? How so?

I've learned a great deal about other faiths, particularly Islam and Christianity, to a lesser extent Hinduism and Buddhism.

  • Debating doesn't change anyone's mind but it is very fun.
  • Most religious people are, wittingly or not, heretics.
  • That most adults (30+) aren't at the educational level I expected them to be.
  • My views towards Islam have softened.
  • Talking to Americans about politics is hard, because our political cultures are so different.
  • That my political views are minority and the only other person I know who shares my place on the Political Compass is Tumah.
  • I am no longer a National Socialist.
  • I am no longer a Christian.

I wish I could say I've learned that a dogmatically closed mind is way more formidable to break into than Fort Knox.

But no, I knew that already...

Not really. I've lost nearly 20 pounds.

My opinions about what I value and disvalues on spirituality crystalize after having a year conversation with @adrian009 and his amigos. I remember years back getting some insight between paganism and Paganism. I learned JW views on the trinity and other nonothorodox views that challanged the evangalist view Im used to in general. I also got insight in peoples personalities. In person, its hard to edit how we talk and body language. Online we can. So, we do get to see the real person but I dont think we would know who is who ifwe just saw pictures of ourselves with our real names.

Did it change me somehow? Yes. It used up about 35040 hours in the last three or four years. But, really, I did learn a lot. I honestly have a boring life so the best I took away to apply to my daily life is patience.

Actually that is another thing I have learnt - some people actually sleep in pyjamas. Horrendous uncomfortable. Nude is best.

Not always. I used to be afraid of the dark. Then I saw my reflection with the lights on. Now I'm afraid of the light.

I've learned that my logic and intellect is superior to that of most others.....:D
