What honey brand do you trust?

Yemen? That must be why it is called the “land flowing with milk and honey”. No, wait, that would be Israel! :)

Yemen and the Sudan were going to merge at one time, but they couldn't figure out whether to call the new country Semen or Yudaman!

I go for the crystallized honey that's blocky in room temperature, not liquid ones that you squeeze out. Don't want the stuff filtered so badly that even if it's honey, it won't be as good as natural ones. The cheapest liquid ones don't even taste like honey, but more like syrup.

All honey is naturally liquid......I know this because I keep bees. Pretty much any honey will crystallize at some temperature. The cheapest honey may be adulterated with corn syrup to cut the cost. Read the label. Filtering isn't so bad, but it can reduce or eliminate the pollen content. That may be a good thing for someone with acute allergies.

They say that "Most Store Honey Isn't Honey!" indeed in my region some reported that some people are making fake honey that even includes motor engine oil!!!

Indeed, I live in the Gulf region where we are surrounded by deserts! So you people, who are surrounded by the green gardens that are full of flowers and honeybees must have better idea about where can we get natural and real honey, and which brand to go for! So teach us!
it's worse than that

saw a documentary recently on Netflix
seems the quality can be influenced by WHERE the stuff comes from
and China is cheating by sending to other countries .....who in turn send to us

We import most of the honey we Americans consume
for that.....it has become an economic war
detailed all the way down to the pollen content in the jar

I watched a Netflix documentary called "Rotten". It has one episode about honey. I recommend watching it. According to this , you should not buy honey from China. It has very little actual honey in it.
OH!.....there it is.....the item in mind

thank you

Your country doesn't have labeling laws? Here in Canada if it was labelled as honey, but wasn't honey, somebody would take them to court, sue them, and win.

Most brands here are labelled 'Honey', and are only honey. The only way you can avoid the legal requirements of an ingredient list is to have the product pure.

I prefer clover honey. It's white and smooth, no heavy flavours. We don't eat sweets much any more, but when we did, it was generally direct from the farm.
It would be nice if you could share with us some of the honey brand names available in Canada

Yep. It's unstable at liquid form because there is too much solved in it to stay in liquid form and should naturally go crystalline after some time. You probably know more about this then I do though.

I have pollen allergies, but it actually helps to have less filtered honey that still has pollen in it during winter so I can survive the summer without taking anything for them.

The belief here is that pure honey will never crystallize. If it does, then it is fake. Old honey is used in India as medicine (Ayurveda, Unani).

We don't buy it any more so I don't know which brands use blends. But the back label must indicate it, by law. So if it says 100% Canadian Honey on the front, then it is.

if I set up a home for the little critters and leave them alone.....

will they behave like bees you know?
( I think not)

and would the honey be there and accessible in some way?

You are right on both counts. I have come across several people who had allergies and claimed they used honey to cure themselves of the condition. They claimed that taking a teaspoon once or twice a day over a long period of time (years) desensitized them and they either no longer have the allergies or suffer to a much less degree. This involved buying unfiltered locally gathered honey so that the pollen present in it represented the pollen in their environment. This is as far as I know simply hearsay. I don't know if any actual research has been done on this. But it may have legs.

Well it's not established science at least and might cause some frowns if you asked a doctor about it... :) I believe it works for some people who don't have too serious allergies, at least I'll keep doing it as long as I get no reaction from eating it.

I was thinking of John ...of biblical fame.....when I wrote this

and is wild honey different in some way?

I buy local honey from roadside stands in my town. If it comes in a squirt jar that looks like a bear, it's not honey, it's corn syrup.

Just found a Lebanese Honey in a supermarket. So I gave it a try..
I used to eat Honey in my breakfast for some years now..
I used to buy a brand called "al-Shifa", this brand was a Saudi one, as i remember..
However it suddenly disappeared..
Then I tried many other brands..
Some of them were almost clear to be fake..
while others seems to be genuine..
Now this new Lebanese brand which is called JS, seems to be natural..
Here is their website:
