What if Jesus were a Woman?

If you believe that a Christ character existed in general, but especially if you're a trinitarian Christian, what if the Christ was a female instead of a male? Would her voice be heard during those times?

Sleeppy

Fatalist. Christian. Pacifist.
Of course; "She" would be heard.. But like Jesus, or any other person, the "hearing" is always limited and diverse.

Her ministry would fail miserably. I can see it... Jesus standing at the top of the hill, beginning to preach the Sermon on the Mount, while all the male crowd is starting at her breasts, as the Galilean northern wind caresses her toga.

Oh God, why are you doing this to me xD ;(

In all seriousness though... If Jesus was a woman? To me, that's like asking if we lived on Mars instead of Earth. It's kinda incomprehensible to me and hard to think about, but if that was the way things were, then that'd just be the way things were. God would definitely be depicted more with a feminine side... In the name of the Father, the Daughter and the Holy Spirit? Lady Jessie Christ, Daughter of the Living God, have mercy on me, a sinner? So weird x_x

Come to think of it... Reviewing my above scenario, it could easily turn out as a HUGE and enthusiastic success. Depending on the wind that day.

LOL yes, but if the wind's too loud to hear "Jessie's" sermon... Maybe a good model for a few years, but what after that? Heck, the miracles might even have been more impressive if they'd come from a woman.

And if Jesus was a woman, then women priests would be standard practice most likely across all Christendom... Would the Church be Christ's husband, instead of the bride? Man, a lot of stuff on the roles of men and women would be written differently in the NT, and most likely the relationship of the Church to Christ... Lots of interesting hypotheticals to consider there.

Well, I don't think he wore a bra. I don't have any scriptures to back that up, but I would stake my reputation that he didn't wear one. -Scuba Pete- ( 2004 "Did Jesus / Yeshoshua look like a woman or a man?" )

Seemed just so relevant here. :D

She would be stoned for being a witch and raped to death instead of hung on a cross.

Woman were little more than dirt back then, I don't think she would of been taken that seriously unless it was somewhere else in the Roman Empire that was a bit more liberal. Some parts they could own property if I recall correctly.

Its not Jesus being a man or woman that is important, its what he became, that is the Christ, the Christ isn't male or female, its our higher Consciousness, our connection to God, or the Source.

Oh sure, just what the world needs: one more woman telling every man she meets that he should be more like her father.

(that's a repeat but hey, so is the topic)

If Jesus was a woman he would never have been famous in the first place. We all know how to feed a thousand people with a loaf of bread.
