People still use them here at supermarket checkouts... It's damn annoying if you are stuck behind one.

Most places here don't accept them anymore.
My dad took the entire family to dinner once and tried to pay by check.
My sister covered him and he gave her the check.

It is was proper Italian fettucine Alfredo yes, since that is just pasta, butter, and parmesan cheese. The American atrocity served in restaurants would probably still exist.

I used to go to a restaurant where they preferred my checks. Restaurants get a nice chunk taken out of their bill to pay for being paid by debit or credit cards. They were very disappointed when I switched to debit card.

If we could still make homemade mac and cheese the world wouldn't end. We could live without the prepackaged box crud and that other stuff.

I kept only an ATM card until there was a situation where I HAD to have a debit card. I'm sure there'd be a substitute.

Unfortunately a lot of Americans like bad Fettuccine Alfredo. Have you ever seen the jarred sauce? Restaurants are not that bad, but it is still rather soupy.
If you eat at a mediocre restaurant,
expect mediocre food. I eat at good
ones....most of the time.

BTW, I seldom have Fettuccini Alfredo,
preferring other noodle & pasta dishes.
Pray tell, at what restaurant did you have
sub-standard fare? Certainly not Alfredo's.
BTW, Menards sometimes sells Alfredo
sauce (in a jar). It's the best offered by
any lumber yard in the world.
