Shh, countries with giant pocket rats do not count obviously!!
We had the Eureka Stockade I guess. It last 4 days, and just over 30 people were killed over a dispute on gold prospect licensing. That's about as close to a revolution as we've had.

I heard that you lost a war involving giant birds of some sort.We had the Eureka Stockade I guess. It last 4 days, and just over 30 people were killed over a dispute on gold prospect licensing. That's about as close to a revolution as we've had.

I understand the thread fine. I was pointing out that your point #1 which I quoted was in error. A restriction of ammunition is, by extension, a restriction of the right to bear arms. Which would be an infringement and contravened by Amendment II. That is correct. The infringement remains of the right protected by Amendment II even if the Amendment itself is repealed as I explained separately. You are misunderstanding the thread as a whole; What if the 2nd Amendment were repealed?
Yeah, that makes zero sense. If the Amendment is repealed, then there is not longer a right to bear arms. There is no infringement. The question then was how to handle the excess of guns held by people who refuse to turn them in. Solution: Remove the ammo. The infringement remains of the right protected by Amendment II even if the Amendment itself is repealed as I explained separately.
If you go back and read what I wrote you might understand. The right protected by the second amendment and the amendment itself are two separate things. The right existed before the amendment, continues while the amendment is in force, and would continue if the amendment should (heaven forbid) be repealed. The second amendment codifies the right but did not create it. If the second amendment were repealed the amendment could not be infringed but the right itself could be. The solution isn't to eliminate the amendment. The solution is to respect the rights of the people.Yeah, that makes zero sense. If the Amendment is repealed, then there is not longer a right to bear arms. There is no infringement. The question then was how to handle the excess of guns held by people who refuse to turn them in. Solution: Remove the ammo.
If you go back and read the title of the thread, none of that matters. If you go back and read what I wrote you might understand.
If government reached the point where it wouldI think if the 2nd Amendment were repealed...
...the Government would make an example out of the first group of people who attempted to resist, striking immense fear in the rest of the country. People would then hand over their guns willingly, as federal and local law enforcement agencies would be willing and eager enforce the new law. The "war on guns" would begin.
