What if YOU were GOD?

What if YOU were GOD?

Wouldn't change a thing. I in my human form can't see more than an millimeter of a creation that spans a mind-boggling amount of time and is of mind-boggling complexity.

(BTW I believe that this is all a divine play/drama and God is all there is. We are God temporarily trapped in the illusion of separateness. When we wake up, we win!)

If I were God, I would've destroyed everything long ago. I don't want to be God and I'm happy I'm not. You all should be happy I'm not God, either. (I'd make a good dictator, though.)

So what if I was god, right... well since I've witnessed that people find it actually really troublesome and hard to get "smart" and see the truth, I would rather break a sweat and spend more than 7 days(e.g 2 more) to make things pretty much.... OBVIOUS!
As for what would the rules be, well nothing burdening really, something as simple as :
1. YOU ARE ALL HUMAN!
2. HUMAN ARE ALL THE SAME!
3. WE HAVE (pretty much) ONLY THIS PLANET THAT CAN SUPPORT OUR LIFE, SO THINK ABOUT THAT!
4. HELP PEOPLE!(if you wanna get help too, otherwise, you will be an ******* and burn in hell)
5. DID I MENTION THAT THIS IS PRETTY MUCH THE ONLY PLANET THAT CAN SUPPORT US LIVING... SO YEAH... DON'T DESTROY IT!!!! REALLY DON'T!

so that's pretty much all I'd do

So in your human form, you cannot fathom improvements on reality? I understand your understanding may increase, but based on your human mind, can you not imagine a better world?

I think I would kill off all the "bad" people. Destructive corporate executives, Machiavellians, greedy and manipulative preachers, murderers, rapists, the hateful, warmongers, those who spread fear, mobsters, and anyone else who is toxic to society. Money would be put in its proper place and the pseudoreligous elements of economics would be exterminated. And no one who contributes to society would have to go without. The arts would flourish, and science would be freed from politics and external agendas. Aggressive and toxic marketing and advertising would also be destroyed. No more preying upon children, normalizing rail-thin and often underweight women, and no more prying into people's private lives to make a buck.

I like it. If it were me the rules would be crystal clear and violators would perish No suffering, just gone. There would be no worship which is nothing but useless name dropping and/or boot licking. If you pretend to know what I want, you die. I made it clear and all you can do is perpetuate confusion.

Faith is the most useless thing, only indisputable knowledge backed up with swift consequences can justify.

What if you were god? What would the rules be? How would you run things?

Let's say you knew all. Let's say you had vast intelligence and were always right. Let's say that you had incredible power to build and destroy. Let's say that you had an unwavering sense of justice and morality and always knew who was right, who was wrong, and what behaviors should be allowed.

But let's say you could not 'make' people do what you wanted. All you can do is preach, teach, judge, etc.

Let's say you wanted to make the world a better place and had unlimited power other than forcing the thoughts or behaviors of others.

What's it all about?

Considering how much of a control freak I am, and how well I do at God Games, I would probably really suck at the job. ^_^

The being that created this universe is omniscient, omnipotent, and in fact the playwright of everything that happens.

Now, I know where your OP question comes from. It assumes a God separate from us, that this one physical life is the extent of existence for individuals so it is what matters, etc....a multitude of wrong limited thinking.

The universe as I've come to see it, is a great thought-form or play/drama of the divine. In this play He separates Himself from Himself and returns Himself to Himself.

So we in our human state are looking at the masterpiece from one far-flung speck inside the masterpiece and think from there we know how to improve the masterpiece. In the masterpiece we are eternal and beginning the stage of returning Himself to Himself.

In short, your question places an undue importance on temporary physical events. We are all designed to grow decrepit and die in a short time with varying amount of relative fortune along the way. The wisdom in this is to identify with our eternal spirit and not the body.

Well for starters I would declare that rape and slavery are immoral. I would also command people to mind their own damn business when it comes to how other people choose to live their lives.

I have thought about this before. I find two things in the idea of existence as god, god as the playwright, the play as existence, all of us as aspects of one.

First it is very poetic, it is tidy, it is neat, it avoids so many real issues other religions seem to create for themselves.

Second, there seems to be even less of a point to existence as one experiencing itself as many, as there is in any other view.

How is it wisdom to identiy our eternal self, when the whole game is based on hiding our eternal self from ourselves? How does one find inspiration in understanding our role, when it is we who defined the role, then hid it from ourselves?

I don't think that's much different than any current religion. The difference I would add is removal of the offender. A god that actually did what he says he will do! That is what I would expect from a real god. Thanks for your contribution.

I would do nothing. I would most likely kill myself. Why must god have rules or be restricted.

I am making a spin off thread for this

No reason. But please notice the parameter given for the thought experiment. I did not state there was a reason for these parameters. I asked if givent these parameters....

I just can't conceive of a nice god. I really can't. I was typing away and paid no attention to the circumstances you laid out. This would require great thought for me.
