What is a soul/spirit?

Your 'inner being' is in fact, just a part of your qualitative experience when you use your brain to overcome yourself.

The Soul is not the spirit, They are 2 different things.

A mind{Soul?} has supernatual power within itself and this is the power of Man.

No matter what faith or religion you speak of, a Powerful {soul?} can in fact heal the Body if the Mind truly talks itself into it.

I believe these things have been studied and it's the power of suggestion, a person can recieve a suggestion and if the Body believes it, It will become true.

Take Mass Hysteria for instance.

I was watching,'' House'' where the entire program was on a plane.

I man Got sick and the Majority of the people on the plane talked themselves into believing that a plague was spreading aboared.

House Made a speech and lied saying,'' It seems a disease is on this plane and the advanced stages and symptons are the uncontrolled involentary movements of the left hand.

About half of the people had their left hand start shaking because the body believed what the mind told it too.

But there is another entity within Men.

There is no reason why a Man cannot walk on water or even lift himself up and fly without flapping his wings.

The way to measure this is simple, You can either walk across the water or you can't.

If you cannot walk across the water, Your faith is so small, It's not much to speak of.

the soul is life and consciousness. It is the Self. Can life be scientifically measured? Can consciousness? Can they be seen or proven?

Here is my take on it. The body is the outer shell, the soul is the second inner circle and the spirit is the centre.

The body consists of, well, obviously hands, head, eyes, ears, mouth, ect.

The soul consists of emotion, mind, intellect, your will or power of choice and imagination.

The spirit consists of consciousness and it takes the soul with it when it leaves the body. It is also an energy body that is a copy or form of the physical body. But it is invisible to the physical world, accept on rare occasions if the spirit gathers enough energy in order to manifest itself to the physical realm.

Now, the evidence of the spirit, is in the fact of out of body experiences by the millions, and by the fact of near death experience testimonies also by the millions. Also there are some cases of actual CERTIFIED DEATH experiences. All of these experiences the people were conscious. Also a good thing to note is that some of these experiences VERIFIED certain things while out of their body and then reported them when back in there body, things they could not have KNOWN OTHERWISE.

To me, the soul and spirit OBVIOUSLY exist. It’s not some hallucination nonsense, it is real.

I personally have had one out of body experience myself. It....was....real.

Um.. supernatural power? I see a few reasons why a man couldn't walk across water or fly. People under the influence of drugs/ the insane are constantly injuring/killing themselves trying to do ridiculous things like that and I'm sure their faith was pretty strong in their ability.

The jiva (as it's referred to in Hinduism) is, IMO, the (very measurable) energy that allows for life. I'm not sure what scientists call it.

Does it allow consciousness to survive death? I don't know; probably not.

From the perspective of most Hindus, yes: pure consciousness (atman) is eternal and (from the advaita perspective) non-different from Brahman.

Why would you call everything that makes up your existence a soul?
