What is Islam's signs that we are in the last days before judgment?

Stuff like this :

Ka'b said: " In the conquest of Rome, an army will leave the Maghreb (Morocco, Algeria, and Tunis) with an easterly wind. None of their rowing oars break and none of their ropes get cut-off, til they reach Rome. They will conquer it. It (Rome) has a tree which is mentioned in the Book of Allah ... whoever hangs his weapon or ties his horse to it is considered by Allah one of the best martyrs. Ka'b also said: "Amoria will be conquered before Nicaea (a city in Turkey where today's Christian creed was formulated in 325 AD), Nicaea before Constantinople, and Constantinople before Rome." (Nuaim bin Hammad's Kitab al-Fitan)

While the Muslims are busy distributing the spoils (booty) of war, after hanging their swords by the olive trees, Satan will shout: 'The Anti-Christ has taken your place among your family (or in your land).' The Muslims will then come out, but will find out that it is not true. And when they arrive to Al-Sham (Damascus or Syria), he (Anti-Christ) will come out. While they (Muslims) are preparing to fight him, and drawing up their ranks, prayer time will come and then, Jesus the son of Mary will descend and lead (or join) them in prayer. When Allah's enemy (Anti-Christ) sees him (Jesus), it will dissolve just as the salt dissolves in water. If Jesus were to leave him (Anti-Christ) alone, he (Anti-Christ) would melt to death anyway, but Allah will have him (Anti-Christ) killed by his (Jesus') hand, and he (Jesus) will show the Muslims his (Anti-Christ's) blood on his (Jesus') spear." (Sahih Muslim)

The hadith is " مقطوع الاسناد" which means it's weak.

1. Time will pass rapidly. [Bukhari, Muslim, & Ahmad]

Mate. Honestly. This is good for those who measured time watching the sun predicting one day the sun will circle the earth faster. Their perception of time not what the current scientific world perceives. Maybe what we know of time will change in years to come. Time is something I have not understood. Maybe they understood better. But we cant simply accept things like this just because we are being preached every day or every Friday of this.

When you say time, time is not a day or a minute or a second. Delving into this kind of extremely primitive type of thinking killed off critical thinking and science of Avichena and the preceding thinkers of the Islamic world (If there is such a thing)

"I’m trying to understand how time works. And that’s a huge question that has lots of different aspects to it. A lot of them go back to Einstein and spacetime and how we measure time using clocks. But the particular aspect of time that I’m interested in is the arrow of time: the fact that the past is different from the future. We remember the past but we don’t remember the future. There are irreversible processes. There are things that happen, like you turn an egg into an omelet, but you can’t turn an omelet into an egg" - Sean Carroll

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The Hour will not begin until knowledge is taken away, earthquakes increase, time passes quickly, tribulations appear, and there is a lot of haraj, which is killing, killing, and until there will be a lot of wealth among you and it will become abundant.”

And Ahmad narrated (10560) that Abu Hurayrah said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The Hour will not begin until time passes quickly, so a year will be like a month, and a month will be like a week, and a week will be like a day, and a day will be like an hour, and an hour will be like the burning of a braid of palm leaves.”

Ibn Katheer said: Its isnaad is (saheeh) according to the conditions of Muslim. And it was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 7422.

These two ahaadeeth indicate that one of the signs of the Hour is that time will pass more quickly.

The scholars differed concerning the meaning of the phrase taqaarub al-zamaan (time passing more quickly). There are many views, the strongest of which is:

That the phrase taqaarub al-zamaan (time passing quickly) may be interpreted literally or metaphorically.

The metaphorical meaning is that barakah (blessing) will disappear from time, which is something that started a long time ago.

This was the view favoured by al-Qaadi ‘Iyaad, al-Nawawi and al-Haafiz ibn Hajar (may Allaah have mercy on them).

Al-Nawawi said: what is meant by its becoming short is that there will be no barakah in it, and that the benefit that a person gets from one day, for example, will be the equivalent of the benefit that he used to get in a single hour.

Al-Haafiz said: The fact of the matter is that what it means is that barakah will disappear from everything, even from time. That is one of the signs that the Hour is at hand.

The metaphorical meaning also includes ease and speed of travel between distant places, so that it may be regarded as time passing more quickly. Distances that took months to cross in the past do not take more than a number of hours nowadays.

Shaykh Ibn Baaz said, in his commentary on Fath al-Baari, 2/522: the time passing quickly mentioned in the hadeeth may be interpreted in the sense of what has happened nowadays, where the distances between cities and regions have grown shorter and it takes less time to travel between them, because of the invention of planes, cars, broadcasting, etc. And Allaah knows best.

With regard to the literal meaning, that days will become shorter in a real sense, so that the hours of night and day pass quickly, this has not happened yet, but it is not something impossible. This is supported by the fact that the days of the Dajjaal will become longer so that a day will be like a year or a month or a week in length. Just as days may become longer, they may also become shorter. That will be because of the world system going out of control and the approach of the end of the world.

Time is indeed passing rapidly nowadays, not the physical time, it doesn't say that the day will have less hours,
so it's the same hours but it passes rapidly, i think it has to do with leisure times, fun, games, movies ....etc
I recall my school times, some subjects which i didn't like (religion was one:D) i felt the school period like
with no end, looking to my watch, it's 2.00 o'clock, looking to my watch after awhile, it's 2.02, Oh my God.
the same thing happens if you're waiting for something, like a football match, OMG, the day isn't moving.

There was a time when TV began at 5PM. It will start with cartoons. We will await the whole day for it. We used to switch the TV on at 4:30 PM and watch the TV which had nothing but rainbow colours for half an hour which felt longer than the whole day.

This is something everyone experiences.

But if you make a study of the Hadith in a bottom-up fashion, you will see that ahadith is generally detailing itself unless its a summary of a series of actions or ideas or processes. Even at the times these hadith were narrated people would have experienced the phenomenon where time just doesnt move faster when you are exited about something. But these are not exiting times, chaos, rape, murder, good god the explanations of all the happenings are not that exiting. Time will seem slower, and those who wrote these stories were also human.

If it were meant to connote shortening of time to reach a destination it would have been "distances will be shorter". Thats the way the Arabic language is generally used. Even in English we say its a "small world".

Even in Ahadith I havent seen a hadith that says "dont use your brain".

Cheers.

So what if sahih Muslim, read this if you're interested.

I consider them mostly forgeries anyway.

You believe lots of them though, including the ones about the Byzantine Empire.

What are your personal criteria for judging between sound and unsound sahih hadith?

There are two types of signs of the day of Judgement. The minor ones and the major ones.

Minor signs will appear a long time before the Hour approaches, such as the decline of knowledge, the spread of ignorance, drinking of wine or alcohol, competition in the construction of tall buildings, and many others. The scholars have listed almost sixty signs, some of which will accompany the major signs, or will appear afterwards. Additionally, the minor signs may not appear in all parts of the world, but they will be noticed.

The major ones are those which appear shortly before the day of judgement and they are extraordinary events.

Okay, that's a lot of literalist insanity to go through. But the anti-Semitism, homophobia and weirdness about alcohol really stand out to me. Apparently, God has told me differently...

To me the hadith should be logical and if one event happened according to what have been said
in one hadith then it proves its truthfulness, for example one hadith says that Iraq currency will
fall and food banned due to embargo by foreign intervention and next will happen to Syria.

Such hadith before the year 1990 looks false but the events proves its truthfulness.

Anyway, back on topic:

There are some events that have already occurred (the building of sky scrapers in the desert) and some that are still to happen, major wars and so on. Ultimately, the large list posted already is kinda scary, especially with regards to how much has already happened.

It's alright. No need to be scared until the Byzantine Empire reappears and there's not much of a chance of that happening in the near future.

When the Byzantines fight the Muslims and people row their boats, fight in ranked legions and hang their swords on olive trees, then it might be time to start worrying.

Until then, some vague stuff about tall buildings is pretty meaningless in the grand eschatological scheme of things.

Where are you getting those stats? Just about every country on the planet has a higher number of women, apart from India and possibly China.
For some reason, it seems the link I posted no longer goes to where it was supposed too...

At any rate, the CIA's World Factbook lists the worldwide human sex ratio at 1.01 men per 1 woman. Click on "People and Society :: WORLD" and scroll down to "sex ratio".
