What is it that you looking for ( in your spiritual journey)

Yesterday a few members recognized a form of sufism within my way of practicing spiritual lifestyle. And after a lot of reading this night i found them to be correct, sufism is a search for God from within the practitioner and it become the purpose of this life as a human being, not only in islam, but it can be transformed within any spiritual path, sufism is the deep path/journey within our heart ( consciousness) finding the spiritual being that is the true "I"

Prayer. Rituals. Blessings. Just talking to Him out and about. Trying to maintain an awareness of Him at all times in everything I do, how I do it and so forth.

My faith helps keep me on the straight and narrow. I'm looking to keep doing what I'm doing. Every now and then I feel moved to try to be a better person.

Meaning study all the religions by texts or by what the texts make you realize from within you.

Just what you said is what I'm looking for.
The true "I". Once I find that then I'll know what to do about it.

I'm looking for the best possible course of action. And I'm looking for the proper judgment. I know to do my best with all my strength while I can do that.

There's my inner struggle between letting go of everything, and just being vs. working on myself.

What I take in and what I leave out is very important. I call it mental food, physical food, and spiritual food. I'm looking for the purest source.

So in your own practice, what are you searching or looking for?

In my own search for God I was looking for answers.....I had so many questions because I need to know the why"s of things and they have to sit well with my heart. I was taught about God in my church but he was not someone I could love or get close to. I heard a lot of talk but there was never much action to back it up. I walked in empty and walked out feeling the same way.

He tortured souls in hell and he took people away from their loved ones so that he could have more people in heaven.....none of that made any sense to me. If God wanted more people in heaven, why did he not just put them there in the first place? That is what he did with the angels, who were all in existence before the first humans were created.

God's law said "thou shalt not kill"...but the churches glorified war and sanctified the killing. It seemed as if everything Jesus taught, they did the opposite. (Matthew 5:43-44)

So the answers I sought had to address all those things and my search ended when I found Jehovah's Witnesses...(or rather, they found me) I finally discovered a people who weren't hypocrites....who followed through on what Jesus taught. even when it was difficult and made them unpopular.
They would go to jail rather than break God's law on taking human life....they were told by Jesus to preach in all the world and that is what they do, despite the fact that people don't like it. (Matthew 28:19-20; John 15:18-21)

I found out that there is no such place as "hell"....and that Yahweh does not take loved ones away from their families. He is not a three headed god, but the singular God of Israel....(Deuteronomy 6:4)....the God of Abraham who fathered the Jewish nation through Isaac and Jacob, (not through Ishmael.) This is what Jesus taught. (John 4:22) So in my study of the scriptures over many years, all my questions were answered. Jesus said that we would "know the truth"....and that it would "set us free".....its a wonderful kind of freedom to be rid of many false religious concepts that crept into Christianity from other religious sources many centuries ago.

The heart and mind must work together, not allowing emotions to cloud our judgment. Love must dominate in the hearts of all in the brotherhood. (John 13:34-35) You must live your faith every day....seeking to please the Creator in all that you do. (Colossians 3:23)

Realizing that religious practices is within you and not in the book it self, might help you along the way the teaching is your guide, but you are the one who do the practice. Without the practice of the teaching you might not grasp its truth, so you keep searching for something "better to believe in".

When you say proper judgment, what lays within those words?

Proper judgment is that I don't want false standards to judge myself by. I want actuality but by a virtues perspective. What are the virtues trying to tell me.

Who is another human to judge me. They see glimpses through small scenes. The true story has to surface. I don't like hasty judgments so I seek proper judgments.

After learned enough about certain religion, I tried to get involved with the believers. It's quite easy, can blend in with their event, volunteering, or simply visit their religious figures.
However, the longer I know them, the longer I'm infected with their hatred, ignorance or arrogance. And every time that happens, they always use their teachings as a shield. That didn't make any sense, but it do written there.

Here's the thing.

After learned enough about certain religion, I tried to get involved with the believers. It's quite easy, can blend in with their event, volunteering, or simply visit their religious figures.
However, the longer I know them, the longer I'm infected with their hatred, ignorance or arrogance. And every time that happens, they always use their teachings as a shield. That didn't make any sense, but it do written there.

I was on the search my self for so many years, and honestly, i used to be one of those you have met, who put you off. Why? Because i did not understand my own belief or practice, i used the teaching as a shield too. But realized that i was the one who was wrong. Unfortunately that is a common thing in religious practices, people guide their ego, does not want to be wrong in what they believe.

As soon the ego/self has been let go of, that was the moment my "awakening" happend. Think of it here i was, after more then 20 years as a religious man, realizing i had made the biggest mistake of my life, refusing to see my own fault for 20 years. I 6sed my belief to shut down others who i today understand had so much more wisdom then i had.

Ignorance is a bad thing to carry around.
Embracing any person and their belief or non belief is so important
