What is more important for you in life ?

Greetings all,

Line1st: Perhaps searching for the "meaning of life" can be fun and enjoyable; perhaps, sometimes it is not.

Line 2nd: To me, the meaning of life is simply to breathe (exist), I may be aware of this equation or not and I may add to this according to the moment and the circumstances of my existence.

best,
swampy
Your first line claims that you are searching, and your second line claims that you have searched.

Searching, or Searched, Please make it clear. :)

Hello old friend,

The first line employs a generalized statement regarding the "search."

The second line is the embodiment of my individual search recognizing that while existence is the meaning of life, that conditions change and perhaps I may once again take up the quest.

I hold stock in both option and would point out that meaning is for us to decide and give.

What is more important for you in life ?
  • Fun and enjoyment.
  • To search the meaning of Life.
If you are searching the meaning of life, Than how will you justify that you aren't getting any fun and enjoyment in this search ? :)

What if the meaning of life is fun and enjoyment?

I find fun and enjoyment in the search for meaning, and visa versa.

I already know the meaning of life, so now, the rest is just enjoying the gravy of physical existence. :)

To preempt the obvious question, understand that I cannot tell you the meaning of life. You MUST figure it out for yourself for the answer to be meaningful. It really is one of those this you have to go through to really get it.

  • Neither. Instead what is important for me is the search for meaning in my life. I have plenty of fun in the process.

No one can declare that they have found THE meaning of life, because other people are going to have differing opinions of what exactly is Life's meaning, or if there is any meaning at all to be found.
Instead I'm looking for meaningful questions to research, questions which I find important, or interesting. I'm modest like that, I might be able to solve some interesting ancient mysteries in my life, but I doubt I'll hit a mathematical epiphany and know EVERYTHING about Life and its meaning. After several million years of human like existence (according to current finds) we didn't even come close to that. Much less can be expected from one person's short life time on this earth.
As for fun, I'm getting to do plenty of things which I like doing, including and usually during my search for meaning.

Just a question.
Why one need to search the meaning of life ? or what makes one to do so ?

Uh-huh.

I don't know about other people. Some seem to be content with watching the football league and drinking mediocre beer.
I personally am a naturally inquiring and curious person. I like to investigate, to dig dipper, to ask questions.
But again, I don't know if you actually read my post carefully. Because I specifically differentiated between 'the meaning of life' and 'finding meaning in life'. So which one are you asking, and if the first one... please read my first reply again.

Of course, this new question has nothing to do with your previous reply.
I just feel like asking, anyways :)

Uh, in that case I can only speculate. Because human beings are wired to find meaning in big and small things. Many need life to have a meaning, or a purpose in which they play a part. There is probably the factor of mortality, or entropy in general. It is only natural that many people would choose to find a deeper alternative to such depressing and fatalistic realities.
