What is normal

Heyo

Veteran Member
I'm realize some may take this post wrongly but...

-I own my own house and land
-Have been married 37 years
-Have two children
-Retired from my job
-I use common sense(is it even common anymore?).
-Not confused about my gender/sex
-Not transgender
-Not against transgenders
-Not gay
-Not against gays
-Not religious
-Not against religion
-Not racist
-I rely on science(not worship it)
-I realize science can be wrong
-I accept we don't know everything
-I understand not everything has evidence
-I understand not everything can be explained
-I understand people are different. Some struggle just to survive.
-I understand people don't have to agree to be friends(however if you don't agree, many shun you)
Etc.

What is considered normal? Is there a normal anymore or is there just living and surviving.

This shows how "normal" you are. There is no exact cut-off for normalcy but most would consider the 2 sigma range as normal. I think most of what you described about yourself falls into that range. Being married for 37 years may be abnormal, I don't know.

"Normal" is an illusory sum of one's experiences in their culture and environment. Ask 10 people what is normal, and you're likely to get 11 different answers.

"Be strong", I whispered to my coffee.

However, I long ago worked out I was the only normal person in the world. So I suspect you're really a 54 year old virgin living in his mother's basement. I'm trying not to judge you for it, but man...you could at least wash your own underwear.

I'm 55. And my underwear doesn't have that fresh scent when I wash it.

That and she never taught me how to use the clothes washing thing.

Oh my, did I say that!

All I will say is - that the less normal one is then the more likely one is perhaps to come across some essential truths. That is, that normality is purely a social construct so as to help maintain a cohesive society. But what is normal does change all too often, as many of us have witnessed over several decades here in the UK and elsewhere regarding attitudes to non-binary sexuality - just being one example. I never have been that normal. :violin: :musicnotes:

I know I'm normal because it is always my size in clothes and shoes that sell out first.
