What is our purpose here in this life

It is firmly obvious that our purpose in life is to adore Girls On Trampolines!

But when that is not practical, then in the meantime we should pursue our bliss, find our excellence, be true to ourselves, become what we are, etc. Those are all ways of saying the same thing.
Man has attempted that for centuries and what is our social status look like at present, not as bliss or excellent as some allude to.
What does that say about our ideas of our purpose.
Have we missed the mark?

Rememebering that Jesus just was'nt your average joe,he was God in flesh and rose from the dead and sent us his spirit to guide us into all truth, to not leave us alone.

I remember that. It's irrelevant to my point.

If man was left to his own perfect self, what kind of chaos and anarchy would we see in the world.

Virtually none, if people achieved their perfect selves or came close to it.

The law was set to govern man because self could not govern self

Self can govern self. It's not always easy, but people can grow in moral character, and without Christianity.

Is there one single purpose to life that everyone is supposed to fulfill, or does each individual have thier own purpose?

Excellent question,I believe we all have our own purpose in this life, but the way one approaches that is synonomos

So true, so true............

Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Luk 1:5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
Luk 1:6 And they were both righteous before Elohim, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of YAH blameless.

It isn't so much that people are aiming at personal excellence and missing, but that most people aren't aiming at all. "Man" in general has not been attempting this for centuries.

Exactly,No wonder,
Hope, purpose, contentment, civility are rare commodities in our culture today.
We rush around ,with most of our time monopolized by schedules, work agenda's,financial pursuits and security, entertainment, indulgence of pleasures that stimulate the sensory perceptors.
Our pursuit of personal excellence is fleeting and leaves us caught up in peer pressure, stero types, and expectations of others and society leaving us frustrated, and unfulfilled, depressed and hopeless

Yes, this is all-too-common, but it is not true of everyone.

What drives life to live? Who can answer that when not based on belief?

The result of life is death. There's no question about that.

Even in the old Cro-magnon remains in Europe some 35,000 B.C. people have been found with jewelry and cave paintings. Why have we done these things? Our species is the only type of hominid or any other creature that has always asked the questions about who we are and why are we here. Think about the sheer prospect of the question alone. Indeed, one could categorize the Homo-Sapien as the one who asked why they existed and through that categorization we create ourselves in the image of our questions alone. Perhaps that age old saying said it best, "I think, therefore I am."

I see you speak of God several times here ,is this the God of the bible or another?
If it is the God of the bible, what does he say about this subject, should we be interested in that at all.

No, not the God of the bible. I'm talking of the "tr00 One and only GOD that I know is tr00 because I know so"

(btw - This is kind of how I "know of a god", but I also know that this doesn't stand in an argument very well, as ALL the evidence is internal :D)

I think the creation of the two polar opposites of God and not-God is personified in the story of the casting out of Satan (or whatever his name was), but I have no reason to believe in a thing called evil.

The thing to remember about bible passages is that many stories in it were told in such a way that would be easy to remember, and therefore you get personifications and symbology and all the rest of it. So I take the bible with a grain of salt and try to imagine what it might be trying to illustrate.

I do not take the bible as my basis for my beliefs, I have worked out my own beliefs by taking bits from everywhere and mushing them together
