What is the biggest scam in world history?

Autodidact

Intentionally Blank
Creationists use the scientific method when doing science. Nobody uses the scientific method when interpretating scientific data.

So if I get you, what you're saying is that none of the scientists are doing science, and the non-scientists are doing science? So basically everything means the opposite? Black means white, up means down and night means day, in your language?

That's what we observe today but have we observed what happened 4000 years ago?
We observe the effects of 4000 years ago. In addition, since we know the laws of physics, we know how much energy would be required for the earth's plates to scoot around like skateboarders in a pool, why it is impossible, and what effects would take place (utter destruction of the planet) as a result, which are not observed. So, using science--that stuff you hate--we can figure out that it didn't happen 4000 years ago or 40,000 years ago.

Oh, and one other tiny thing; the Bible omits to notice that while it was raining, the earth was tumbling around like child's blocks, and the continents re-arranging like a jigsaw puzzle.

Why would it? That was all happening under water, of course. ;)

Well, to be fair Auto, people like you and I don't know how to interpret the bible. I mean, I totally missed the part about jesus riding a dinosaur, but all of the creation scientists swear up and down that dinosaurs are in the bible. So, if we could have missed something as gigantic as the dinosaurs in the bible, who knows what else we might have misunderstood.

Maybe jesus wasn't really a carpenter, but that's just a figurative way to say "clinical psychiatrist", becuase he "rebuilds the shattered lives" of people, rather than literally "built tables and chairs".

The scam is when one side suppresses the other by decree, threats and intimidation.
MoF, I can't believe you are still bleating about decrees and threats when every time you have been asked to give an instance of either you have simply shied away. Do you perhaps believe that if you repeat it enough times it will be true?

Let's try again:

  1. point me to a 'decree', and its issuing authority, which forbids observations or data contrary to orthodox evolutionary theory being published;
  2. give me an example of a scientist - a real scientist, please - on record as having been intimidated into not publishing his/her work by threats.

If you cannot do either, we will have to conclude you are indulging in paranoid fantasies.

Because they are looking to support it.

No they aren't. If that were the case then scientist would have backed Darwin 100% but as they investigated the hypotheses they determined that Darwin was NOT completely correct but he was instrumental in laying the ground work for further research and discovery. The TOE does not rest on the shoulders of Darwin. We are far beyond Darwin now.

I understand if you can't or won't accept this fact but you've been hard pressed....thread after thread to even bring one single refute to the theory. You started off with a vague question and began a completely uneducated soapbox tirade about evolution. With so many vast subjects to comment on as being (a big scam) you continually approach a subject you display an utter lack of understanding of.

You know what the real biggest scam in world history is....? JESUS.....

Just the facts Ma'am
I think the biggest scam in the world is fundamentalist Christians belief that THIER WAY is the ONLY WAY and all that believe otherwise are wrong!

"We've been attacked by the intelligent, educated segment of the culture."

Another gem...

"Someone has to stand up to the experts" - Don McLeroy, Texas School Board Chairman decrying the teaching of evolution.

After the Origin of the Species was accepted by mainstream science that is the science that they go by. Now all data is interpretated to confirm that in some way.

You don't know what you are talking about, but you steadfastly refuse to educate yourself. Rather, you simply insist on being a martyr for ignorance.

It should be noted that the legal history of creation "science" has been remarkably consistent, the creation "scientists" have lost every single Federal court case they have ever been involved with. In every instance where creation "scientists" or intelligent design "theorists" have attempted to argue that their viewpoints are "science" and should be taught in schools, or that evolution is not science and should not be taught in schools, their claim has been rejected by the courts; soundly, starkly, and unequivocably.

We need to scientifically investigate what could have caused that.

Why would we "scientifically investigate" anything? You refuse to accept the outcome when science doesn't validate your preconceived religious dogma, so why waste the time? Why not just read the Bible and see what it says?

Is it to much to ask that you at least be consistent in your willful ignorance?

It's utterly laughable that they can't even stand on their own two feet in the arena of the pursuit of knowledge and have to cry to the courts. Do we know of any other group so dumb as to think it's ok to use the courts to force unfounded education? Not that I can think of.

I disagree on all acounts actually. I am passionate about philosophy, particularly about morality. I do not believe I have missed the mark at all. Are you willing to take a child rape victim in your arms and say "don't worry, it's only a misguided perception"? Now that is missing the mark. And lastly, "perverted and twisted"? How? By acknowledging that those of us sitting on cushy computer office chairs who have the luxury of pondering whether what we think is real is actually real shouldn't be brought back to the ground where most people live? I don't see that as anything but sobering.

I did not say that energy is not real and can be felt and is tangible, just saying matter may be nothing more than vibrating strings of energy instead of particles. If your passionate about morality then maybe you should use this passion instead of being so jumpy!

1) That facts exist.
2) That money is worth something real.
3) That life has a purpose.

The problem with this idea is that we find particles... molecules, atoms, quarks.. so on.

Exactly. Not to mention the fact that even if the energy string theory turned out to be correct and particles didn't in fact exist, where's the scam?
