I recently asked a question about the Sanatan Dharma, if it is the oldest or not. It appears it might not be, but then again, it also could be. Which do you think is the oldest?
I’ve heard that also. But I imagine it depends on how well established it is, or if there is text of some kind. You could say that the first time a human looked up at the stars and wondered, that could have been the forming of religion. I am pretty sure than Sanskrit is the oldest written spiritual text, can someone back me up on that?

Well you could be right. But spirituality and religion are two different things mind you...though they do have a lot to do with each other.

Paganism, Earth (Divine) Mother "religions" would be the oldest we know about. That is going back about 50-60,000 years.

Compared to them, the Egyptian religions are a new innovations.

You know... I think I'm going to have to go with this one as well. I feel that "earthy" type religions were among the earliest due to the evidence that early humans worshipped things of the earth and sky...like the sun, moon, earth, and nature spirits, etc... I think the notion of "gods" came later, but that's just my theory.

Doubt it :D.

There is some pretty funny people on here.

we all need a laugh every now and then otherwise we would all go crazy but to ask or say can Islam be used to collectively describe Abrahamic religions and specifically in a thread related to the oldest religions? I still can't understand why would you say something like that?

I know, Im not blind but can't you see any differences between Judaism, Christianity and Islam to use Islam to describe all three? It's not like Judaism and Christianity originated from Islam to collectively describe them under it.

I see no differences among those three. As they are all power hungry religions.
