Faith-confidence in what we hope for (Hebrews 11)

It appears that the Catholic Church is grappling with the fact that despite any vows of celibacy, priests and nuns are still human and have human urges and desires. Perhaps acknowledging this instead of further dismissing or repressing it could pave the way for reform to the Church's approach to sexuality-related issues.

"Priests and nuns also have the vice of porn on the web. Beware: the devil enters from there and weakens the soul," Francis said. "If you have them on your mobile phone, delete them."
Pope Francis says priests and nuns watch 'vice of porn,' warns 'the devil enters from there' (msn.com)
Will they listen? Obey?
"Francis said that a "pure heart" that receives Jesus daily "cannot receive this pornographic information."
Really? A "pure heart" receiving Jesus? REALLY???
I'm not sure what you are questioning here. Can you clarify?

Sorry, if you don't see it, think about it. Hint: either Roman Catholics believe (put faith in) what the Pope says or -- (you figure the rest out). :)

No, I don't see what the issue is. You will need to spell out what you are thinking, I'm afraid. Do you think there is something wrong with the concept of a "pure heart receiving Jesus"? Or is it something else, and if so, what?

Quite ironic...you believe the priest or nun you meet have God in their soul, but in reality the devil is in their soul (those watching web porn)

God, in the Bible, "told" them not to watch porn, they obviously did not take God (those specific Bible verses) serious

So, I doubt that they will obey this time, probably not even hear it. Old habits die hard

I hope they don't obey.

Catholic priests with no outlet for their sexual needs and frustrations, have a bad rep.

Their sexual energy tends to come out "another way".

I believe Puritanism may not be dead.

I believe that is speculation. People have problems with sin without the devils help. Certainly there is evil involved in the porn industry but that is probably the love of money which is the root of all evil.

Do you mean something like this......

"How Many Catholic Priests Have Been Accused Of Abuse In The United States?
Our database contains more than 6,000 Catholic clergy members accused of abuse in the United States. However, this number is an underestimation of the full scope of abuse in the Catholic Church. Many survivors of clergy abuse may never come forward with their experiences, so the exact number isn’t known.

What Percentage Of Priests Have Been Accused Of Abuse?
According to the John Jay Report, between 1950 and 2002, approximately 4% of Catholic clergy members in the United States faced credible allegations of child sexual abuse.

Have Any Priests Been Prosecuted On This List Of Accused Priests?
Yes, our list includes some priests who have been criminally prosecuted and convicted of their crimes. However, this number is lower than the number of priests who have been accused.

The John Jay Report analyzed 4,392 priests and deacons facing allegations of sexual abuse of minors or sexual misconduct between 1950 and 2002. Of the 4,392 clergy members analyzed in the report, 1,021 of the incidents were reported to the police. Of these 1,021 accused clergy members, 252 or roughly 25% were criminally convicted.

Despite this low conviction rate, many victims have found justice through settlements and civil lawsuits."

Well here's another little quote from the website promoting this fabulous conference -- "s he pointed out in this regard, the Italian Baroque master Gian Lorenzo Bernini - who was the architect of St. Peter's Basilica - imagined the colonnade of the basilica as "two great arms that could embrace not only Catholics from all over the world, but also heretics or those of other faiths".
Heretics? hmm. ...

As I understand it, many priests are in therapy for various reasons. Abuse being one of them. When one changes for Christ, one does so even if it is a struggle against the fleshly desires.

Allow me to say that child sexual abuse is a bit out of the scope of let's say normal sexual desires. Which priests and nuns are supposed to control anyway. And watching or taking in porn doesn't help with self-control. Because as Jesus said, if a person looks at a woman with lust, it's like committing fornication or adultery. I wonder if these priests and/or nuns confess before they're inaugurated as priests, etc. I also wonder if they confess to their superior about these things. Well, I guess the Pope is a bit concerned.
