What is your greatest fear?

Parasites (particularly endo-parasites like guinea worms etc. - urrghh!). I know it's weird, but it comes, I think, from having a pathology technician who specialised in tropical diseases for a father - all those absolutely vile text books left around the house! It's actually got a lot worse in recent years, generalising out to anything that looks like it might possibly be like a parasite. My mother had a doormat I couldn't stand on (little plastic wormy things!) and I can't go near a sprouting potato even though I know rationally that these things aren't parasites. But then, the definition of a phobia is an irrational fear.

Like Enhanced Spirit, I have a real phobia of success. I find myself getting close and shooting myself in the foot in any number of ways. I feel guilty for charging what I know to be more than fair, but somehow, I "make do".

I am also fearful of drowning which makes Scuba Diving "interesting". :D

Drowning ... I hear it's a relatively painless death.

It was just funny cuz I told my friends that and they said "who'd you ask, a dead guy?"

Oh jeez...I'm afraid of most everything, but I tend not to show it.

I'm terrified most of being stuck, whether physically stuck in a small space of emotionally stuck, or stuck at home...I guess I'm scared of losing my freedom.

Ladders and heights--Hate them but after about 1/2 hour can just about cope.

Failure. Which, unfortunately, has the same effect as being afraid of success.

And spiders - I've always been terrified of spiders - although living alone has forced me to deal with any that wander inside. I'd still rather someone else do it though.

And snakes. And needles (although, again, I've gotten better at dealing with those over the years). Oh, and climbing ladders. I was going to say heights, but I can climb a tree like a monkey and be fine (I spent a lot of my early teens up trees), but put me on a ladder and I freeze after a few rungs.

That's interesting, Bastet, because with heights I'm fine as long as it's ladders or trees. Otherwise I get a little iffy. I'm not afraid of heights, I'm afraid of falling from them! Although, I don't know why, because when I think about it, it seems pretty fun.

...and who would be the one to tell you that? It sure wouldn't be the person who expereinced it.

My biggest fears are loosing my family. If my kids died, I honestly don't think I would be far behind. I almost cry everytime I think about the possibility, and yet I'm not over protective of them so I think I'm alright with it.

When I was little I was friends with a carny. He was awesome, and so was his family. I was tempted to join them, but I didn't. A part of me is afraid I made the wrong decision.
