What Is Your Opinion Of Cars That Go 70+ MPH?

Either don't drive on multi-lane highways or always drive in the right hand lane.:D

LOL right hand lane does not work on some highways. I'm in Maine. To never take the highway is not probable. Highway driving will get me to Massachusetts in four and half hours. Avoid the highway in the summer and it's twelve hours. No can do! Twelve hours with stopping for shopping. So nine with self control.

Was just stating that if you are afraid of driving on multi-lane highways maybe you should stay off. I have driven in many parts of the country and you wouldn't believe some of the drivers out there. I have seen them come to a complete stop on a on-ramp to a freeway, driving 35MPH in the left hand or center lane when the speed limit is 70MPH; there are people out there that shouldn't be driving on expressways or even driving.

It is illegal to drive over 70-80 MPH on most the U.S highways.
I have an uncle that says it is only illegal if you get caught...

Car companies purposefully manufacture cars that are based on the consumers criteria as opposed to the laws.
Wow.
who would have guessed that car manufacturers would be making cars based on what people want to buy...

If car manufactures were made to make cars that were governed at 70-90 MPH. There would possibly be more study into how to make a car more efficient inside those parameters as opposed to the parameters that exist.
"more efficient inside those parameters as opposed to the parameters that exist"
I do not understand what you mean here.
Would you please reword it?

It is off topic. Thank you for reading my post. I'm not afraid. I call it annoyed. Slow down at the toll booth. Also, no one owns the road. Peace!

Some thoughts about the general comments here:

- some people do take their street cars out on the track for legal racing and high-performance driving schools.

- even my 1997 minivan could do more than 100 mph.

- just putting a speed limiter on a car at some top speed doesn't automatically make the car more efficient at lower speed.

I'm not sure of the laws where you are, but here in Ontario, the law says that you have to keep right except to pass or turn left.

I have heard that the law to stay left to pass is gone. Now we have to drive awake. And that is not what I was talking about. And it is still off topic. Nothing changes. Bless you!

You must drive through Utah.:D God I have seen people do all kinds of stupid **** on the Interstates like eating, shaving, typing out reports on laptops, reading books, etc. It is like Mad Max ******** at times.

The new 2013 Nissan GT-R 0-60mph in 2.6 seconds.

Got me beat, it takes me all of 4 seconds to get to 60. You got that all wheel crap. It aint worth nothing for drifting and once you get to 80 that drive train takes away from your performance.

I used to take my STi to the Capital City Speedway. Its a good place to learn how to take corners quick and capitalize on the Apex.

If we tuned cars so the gears shift quicker, we could accelerate quicker. A car that hits 0-60 faster but has a lower top end speed is more appropriate on street driving.

When I am on the 417, the majority of cars are flying by at 130+ km/h. Flying past my wrx in their little eco boxes (I guess you can do that when you average 700+ km's a fillup.

Anybody see the video of the car that would not slow down? It was being driven by a non-race car woman. It was through traffic. The skill she exhibited proved God I think.

Amen brother Penguin, and if you can't keep up, get over!

Of course, plenty of people don't obey the law... or even know about it. I'm just one of the weirdos who's read the whole Highway Traffic Act.

I suppose I do have sympathy for people who don't stay left in some situations. Now that I'm driving in Michigan more, I have to say: damn, the Michganders make their freeway on-ramp acceleration lanes stupidly short. I've taken to moving left as I approach them unless I can clearly see that nobody's coming.

You're in Ottawa? You don't do any stuff with the Motorsport Club of Ottawa, do you? I know a bunch of the guys there through racing stuff I'm involved with. And I've heard awesome things about their Slush 'n Slide winter driving clinics.

And you're not too far from Calabogie. Fun track. If you like twisty, you'll like it. :D
