What is your take on theistic evolution?

I do not believe in any evolution. If the Bible says that God created everything in six days and rested on the seventh day, I believe it because the Bible is God's Word.

I do not believe in any evolution.

Evolution takes place wether you believe in it or not. I have no idea how life came to be in the first place, but evolution is a fact. Not even the catholic church has a problem with it. And nevermind the past, fossils and dinosaurs.. bacteria are doing this more or less before our eyes: Antibiotic resistance

If the Bible says that God created everything in six days and rested on the seventh day, I believe it because the Bible is God's Word.

2. Peter 3:8

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Even if you insist on six days, that isn't very likely to mean six 24 hour periods. And it has nothing to do with evolution, either.

If the bible claimed you have three arms, would you believe it? Good thing the bible says nothing about evolution, zero. If it did, the bible would have a problem, not evolution.

I think you can believe in evolution and God at the same time if you are able to not take the scriptures literally.
Within most religions there are people who take their scripture literally and those that see an allegorical nature to it.

I think that when you become educated, learn critical thinking, and understand the theory of Evolution, you can't help but accept it as real. This may lead to a re-evaluation of your understand of your scripture, but I have never seen this as a bad thing. In fact, it often allows for greater depth and understanding.

So true, people that cannot grasp evolution have a horrible time with theism in general.

Its all a matter of education, and thus, why those of us that want to learn are here. :angel2:

I tend to believe in a form of theistic evolution, in that I believe that God (Brahman, Parasiva, etc.) is behind all natural processes.

I don't see any difference between theistic evolution and normal evolution, its just with theistic, you've substituted 'we don't know how life got started' with 'God did it'. And that is abiogenesis not evolution.

Not needed, but certainly not incompatible.
This.

I believe in a form of atheistic evolution. Evolution happened naturally, chaotically, without any divine guidance, influence or actions.

I see no issues with theistic evolution. There are issues with, however, taking scripture literally. Even if one did, the term 'day' in the Bible could also be different from a day as humans would understand it.

It's a who vs how thing. Non-overlapping areas of interest.

Science studies mechanism. God is unnecessary to the process, but can't be ruled out as an agent of some kind.
Religion asserts agency, but has no explanation of mechanism or predictive value. It's assertions are unfalsifiable, hence, untestable.

Here is the definition of theistic evolution.
Theistic evolution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Evolution is incompatible with true Christianity. Jesus believed in creation and attributed this to God. The Bible states God created the various animal groups according to their kinds, and this does not allow for mutations from one animal group to another. (Genesis 1:24) Genesis also reveals man as a special creation, not an evolved entity. (Genesis 2:7)
Therefore, any form of theistic evolution runs counter to what the Bible teaches, and is not true. The fact that religious people or "christian" religions advocate for evolution simply proves these "christian" people and religions are not what they profess to be.
As for evolution, since it cannot explain how life began (and dodges the question, calling that abiogenesis) is a theory without a foundation.

Incorrect, the ToE DOES NOT explain how life began, it is not a part of the theory. Abiogenesis is a seperate field of study.
The ToE explains how life changes over time once it is already there. It is not dependant on what if anything caused life.

The next time you're standing at the edge of a tall cliff, don't worry none about falling. After all, since Newton couldn't explain how gravity began, it's just a theory without a foundation.

What do "I" think about theistic evolution?

About the same as I do "the gap theory".

If one can believe Genesis 1:1 then the rest should be easy.

God is still creating things. Every time someone is reborn they are a new creation according to the bible.

The idea of evolution wasn't created by God but his enemy.

I think that God Himself evolved somewhat Himself due to His creations. I believe in the evolution of creation. I think God must have gotten tired of watching His dinosaurs devouring each other so He decided to create an Image of Himself on Earth in the form of Man. We too will evolve into becoming more like our Father just as a child develops into an adult human being. God so loved the world that He sent us a deliverer to reunite us with Himself in Paradise. He gave us His Word, literally, and it was done but only after His Son spends three days in the belly of the Earth or Hell. A thousand years is but a day to the Lord so we have a while yet to wait for the resurrection but those days will be cut short for the sake of the elect.
