What Makes a Hindu a Hindu?

Its only a Label
Friend atanu,

Shri Aup.'s thinking is erroneous and IMO, does not correspond to any school of Hindu Dharma.

That one word has been marked in RED to denote that all paths/ways'/religion points to every human taking to transcending THOUGHTS and by THINKING one is only proving that one is yet to transcend the mind and so is still to follow the path of dharma and so personally it is adharma or leading holding us back on our paths.
Kindly understand that one is free to follow his mind but only by holding back progress.

Love & rgds

I would like to hear from everyone else what it means when Krishna says that sentient beings (such as you and I and Poeticus and Atanu and yes, even Justin Beiber - ALL sentient beings) are Krishna's para prakriti - the superior energy.

Particularly, I would like to here how folk on this forum resolve the combination of that sloka and BG 18:66 " Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me."
Yes, Osama and Pol Pot, Hitler and Stalin, and Genghies and Attila, were all Brahman. Krishna for me is that Brahman, and not the one who takes herds for grazing or rules over Dwarika. So, no para or apara prakriti is necessary. Surely, I have abandoned all and have taken refuge in that Krishna, the Brahman. How would people who do not understand know this?

'Atman' is 'self', Ravi. It does not necessarily render to 'soul'. Am I not pained when the body is hurt? Is it not my 'self'? 'Atman' has also been used for 'mine' in Gita as in 'atmani'.

And I will have to again put forth Shankaracharya's teaching over here then...

Fools, because they lack in their powers of discrimination superimpose on the Atman, the Absolute-Existence-Knowledge (Sat-Chit), all the varied functions of the body and the senses, just as they attribute blue colour and the like to the sky.

Somebody suggested there should be an Indian Philosophy DIR for discussions of what is and is not Astika/nAstika/Vedanta etc. I think that was a very good suggestion-perhaps it is worth more attention amongst members here?

I would say that this is an excellent idea. I have also stated this in the Same Faith Debate forum. :)

http://www.religiousforums.com/forum/same-faith-debates/158198-hinduism-debate-7.html

The Dharmik forum can also be used for the charvaks/lokyatas/atheists for this purpose too for expressing their views. Charvaka/Lokyata/atheistic dharma can be expressed there, as it is nastika instead of the Hinduism forum .

This will allow the Hinduism forum to be uncorrupted by the nastika views (Charvaka/Lokyata/atheistic dharma )and help preserve the pristine purity of jnana and bhakti as taught by the scriptures, without fear of defilement or corruption by completely divergent or opposite views. This would greatly increase the quality of the forum and reduce a lot of unnecessary chaos.

What is list two? And, the gif stands to show
that I agree with the contents of the post that
is quoted therein, that Makaranda went
flawless there as well. But, I shall delete
it since it can come across as childish,
and because not everyone may get the
gaming-related reference.
