What makes People "Sinners"?

How can a person be a sinner if the word sin just means to miss the mark? Sin would then be an action, but not something that defines a person. When did sin go beyond a concept and start to make human beings sinners as though we're evil and tainted?

Isn't someone who acts for a living called an actor, and a person who welds, a welder? So a person who sins---regardless of its definition---would be a sinner.

What makes people "sinners"? I certainly can't speak for anyone else, but what makes me a sinner by most standard definitions is my alcohol, my pot, occasional bouts of illicit sex, prescription pain medication that I devour for recreational purposes . . . . all that and lots and lots of porn. Yeah, all that makes me a big, big "sinner".

Examples of sinning (missing the mark):
Attempting to toss a piece of paper rolled into a ball into a trash can and missing.
Turning up the oven's temperature one degree off.
A police officer, shooting to kill, and only hitting the leg.
Going to take a sip of soda and accidentally sticking the straw into your nose.
Clicking the wrong link.
Making tpyos.
A woman poking herself in the eye with eyeliner.

The way Christians see it, we all sin. We are all flesh and fall into fleshly desires and sometimes at the expense of another person. But most Christians see God as merciful- who will forgive any sin.

Do you sin for a living?

I've unclogged a few toilets and even replaced a couple kitchen faucets, but I'm not a plumber.

According to some Christians I sin just about every time I turn around. And I Love it! Other than that, I drive a car and am considered a driver, I read books and am considered a reader, and I even fornicate and am considered a fornicator.

people are sinners because we are imperfect which means we are going to do something that jehovah doesnt approve of such as commiting adultry, lieing or even if we steal no matter what we are going to sin

By definition it is one who sins.

I believe the only sin is making others feel bad or some negative emotion or just talking around their back.

Hehe - taint

The wrong way to achieve peace and endless happiness makes people sinners or in some other language we can say the way to achive the sources of happiness (means dulicate god) makes people sinners.

Yes hardwares or sources can give us body-ly happiness, but they can never give us mindly happiness,

O chinu ! you can never achive endless happiness or permanent peace of mind through these hardwares or wordly sources of happiness, O chinu! you are doing so many efforts to give comfort to this body , but very sadly it will become old one day and will be trapped by different diseases in old age, and finally it will leave you and will laying in the grave one day.

So... the wrong way to achive permanent peace, or permanent happiness, or in short "God", makes people sinners.:)

I think the whole "sinner" concept comes from Augustine. I prefer Pelagius, who tends to celebrate our inherent goodness.

I think "sin" just means to break one of the established belief system's rule and pertains to religion. I think it's irrelevant and we should just focus on when we make mistakes and see how we can learn from it instead of making yourself feel bad for breaking an established "rule".

humans miss the mark of being perfect, the only two perfect couple, jacked it up for us. we were born from sin, because they allowed themselves to sin aginst Jehovah God. as for action...we DO, commit the action of sin, everyday. some we don't even realize IS a sin. to answer your last question. if an wicked angel got eve to sin, knowing she would get weak-butt Adam to follow her. (Rom.5:19- For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous).

don't be fooled into believe satan is just sitting back in the cut. just like Jehovah puts good thoughts in our heads,(though many at times don't listen). satan also can put thoughts in our head. but unlike God,who DOESN'T make us follow those thoughts. sadly...:sad:satan does!
and many of us willfully listen. hence the wickedness that goes on cause by us, we ARE sinners,( peace
