What makes something worthy of worship?

I believe emulation to be the highest and most advanced form of worship. I believe we all should emulate (worship) the best we can find. I would also purport that what entertains us is one of our highest forms of worship and emulation. I have long been concerned with the worship of violence in our society.

So do you think it's ok to admire religious scriptures that contain ample amounts of violence?

Probably similar to Idolize.... love unquestioningly and uncritically or to excess

Ah. 'Cause that's not how I see worship... though I don't see anything inherently wrong with what you describe, though I can see how it could lead to problems if unchecked.

Worship is simply reverence; recognizing that there are those higher in experience and skill in what I hope to accomplish myself, and looking up to, admiring, working for, and loving that, with no desire for something in return.

I love you.

I think the problem is that I, and maybe alone in this, find the phrase "I worship those with higher in experience and skill in what I hope for myself" to put it mildly silly. I don't see worship and reverence anything near close to interchangeable. I don't think worship and idolize is interchangable... but I think "love unquestioningly and uncritically or to excess" seems pretty accurate.

Violet.
The better something is and the more worthy it is of worship, the less it would desire to be worshiped.

So, nothing is worthy of worship, because those that want it to do not deserve it, and those that are truly remarkable would not desire it. "Great praise" and admiration are sufficient for something that is truly good.

Unless we are 'worshipping' a real person
like a lover or 'master' artist... or 'con' artist,
the object of our worship will always be... an object...
or an I'dea.
Or an I'con that 'stands for' an idea/set of ideas.

Icon's, Ideas, and Objects do not desire,
and their Worth is seen only in the eyes of the BeHolder.

Then we define worship differently, as I do not "love uncritically or to excess" anything. I do try, however, to love all things unconditionally. (Not easy, of course.)

And, like I said, I don't see anything inherently wrong with what you describe, nor do I understand why you think it's silly.
