What makes you feel alive?

What makes you feel the most alive?.

Some possibilities: exercise, sports, meditation, religion, reading, school, hobbies, games, travel, shopping, art, music, tattoos.

I take delight in many things, but probably feel the most alive after going on a walk in the woods. I wasn't sure where to post this, but religious or non-religious answers are valid.

Had my reply cued up from reading thread's title, then realized mine is like yours (a walk in the woods), except mine entails throwing a disc at a basket while walking through the woods. The game aspect draws upon my intellect, desire for greater patience, greater confidence, and greater satisfaction for the way things are right now. The walking, exercise part draws upon my appreciation of nature in a way I don't usually experience, and that I routinely find beautiful, but would take for granted except I try to do the activity as often as possible.

After reading parts of the thread, I would also say anytime I encounter overcoming some sort of physical ailment, I feel most alive. I acutely get this whenever I get a cold (though it's been a few years since my last one) and I hit a sort of rock bottom and then when getting better, I feel life rushing into me, free of illness, ready to be nourished and attending to things not just overdue in last few days, but likely in last few months or years.

Skiing is a big one for me, it's my favorite activity. Standing at the top of a massive bowl, looking off the edge with a mixed sense of terror and excitement, then taking that push forwards and that first turn against the pull of gravity...awesome.
Money woes thwarted my snowboarding trips.
If I do start up again, I'm going to have to do a lot of conditioning....especially stretching.

You're a disc golf guy Acim? Very cool, I play quite a bit.

I go up to Sugarbush in Vermont a lot and they have two courses up there. One at the base of the ski mountain that is the easier course, and then one that you have to take the chair lift up to get to, and it plays along the top of the mountain ridge. I guess it's known as one of the hardest courses around...if your throw is just a little off it can go careening off a cliff never to be seen again. I lost 5 discs and never made it to the 18th hole. Now I stick to the lower course, but the upper course is quite the experience!

If I were going to add to the list, I'd add (2 more):

- laughter - especially the type where you are barely able to stand up, and can't go on with anything else for a good 3 minutes

- the 5 to 15 seconds just before and during an orgasm

That's a great one. Nothing better than laughing until you can hardly control your own body.

Three main things:

1- My religious obligations and teachings: examples are expecting prayer times to come, getting ready for it and perform it have meaning and life to me. Adjusting the alarm to wake up early in the morning for the morning prayer make me sleep the night more and live day time more, which is the more natural approach for humans to live. Waiting for the time of the year to give alms and charity makes me feel good knowing I participated in helping people.

2- Taking care of and being with my family: family is closest people to you, so typically they are who you care for the most, if your a responsible and good person. Doing that gives you a purpose and meaning to life.

3- As for entertainment, I love playing video games, fishing, listening to calm and sane music, and watch cartoons/anime.

That's always a good sign.

And this is a bad sign:

Wow many moments, sunrise, sunset, a starry night, a babbling brook, a walk in the woods,
birdsong, a butterfly, saving a life as a paramedic . restoring an old clock.
