What Movies do you WANT to Watch?

nutshell

Well-Known Member
This thread isn't for movies you have seen, but for movies you want to watch. Here's a brief list of mine:

American Gangster

No Country for Old Men

The Golden Compass

The Mist

Ironman (next summer)

Hitman was good. I liked it a lot.

Two movies I am really looking forward to:

Iron Man
Cloverfield

Bah Bollywood. I hate movies now. Used to go to the cinema religiously once a week up until I decided that 90% of everything churned out of L.A. was ****e.

Last movie I saw was "Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer"...

Meh.

Movies suck. Comic books are much better.

I'm very interested in seeing No Country For Old Men - it may actually get my butt into a theatre, which is a rare event for me.

There's supposed to be a Speed Racer movie coming out next year. Part of me thinks it might be pretty good, but the other part of me is cringing at imagined awfulness.

Other than that, I'd like to see Battleship Potemkin again. I've seen it before, but it was years ago. Unfortunately, it's not the sort of thing you usually find at Blockbuster or on TV.

Shadow Wolf

Certified People sTabber & Business Owner
Rob Zombies remake of Halloween
Beowulf
The Mist
And so many more I will never remember them all or get to watch them all.

I got one of those forwarded e-mails that make the rounds on the internet about how this movie has an anti-religious message. Nobody can quite agree on whether it's specifically anti-Catholic, anti-Christian, anti-organized-religion, anti-God, or what. Snopes even confirms that the bias is not a rumor.

My wife was all set to take our daughter because of the cool previews and Burger King toys, but now she doesn't want to, although I wouldn't be opposed.

Does anyone else have any impressions on this?

I can't believe I forgot Sweeney Todd! That's probably number one on my list.

Tell me about it! When we went to see Beowulf (which we only watched because there was nothing else and we needed to get out of the house) we saw the preview for Sweeney Todd and I lamented the fact that we weren't there to see that.

I've heard this too and I personally don't care. One of my favorite poets is William Blake. He was anti-institutional religion, but I didn't care - his art still touched me.

I think the same is true of this film. Regardless of the creator's intentions, a person can still find the message that appeals to them. This means even if it's intended to be anti-Catholic/Chistian, I can still view it recognizing that the portrayal of the Church is inaccurate in my opinion.

What if the Empire in Star Wars was revealed to represent the Church? Would you quit watching it or would it take away from your movie going experience? I know it wouldn't do so to me, but I recognize everyone is different and needs to make their own decisions.

I agree. That would be like me keeping my kid from seeing/reading The Chronicles of Narnia because of its strong Christian overtones, which I think would be a real shame.

I saw the CON, it was so painstakingly boring, i never saw the Christian points (its just me) I thought, and i was a lil kid then, it was all a little too silly.
