I don't think I would consider abortion to be "murder," at least not in the general sense of how "murder" is defined. I suppose if it has to be called something like that, it might be closer to a vicarious form of "suicide."
It seems the abortion rate has actually gone down in the past 10-20 years. With the widespread availability of birth control out there, it would appear that an unwanted pregnancy is something that should be relatively easy to avoid.
As far as it being legal, I think that's pretty much a done deal, as it has been for over 40 years and survived numerous conservative challenges. I don't understand why the religious right expends their (somewhat diminished) political capital on this issue when they might have more success on other fronts.
