What practical advice might you give to people regarding coronavirus?

Reminds me of a joke a heard:

- Corona virus causes diarrhea
- Really?
- Yes, just cough in a store and ten people will s**t their pants

Practical advice?
Keep your sense of humour

Wash hands 20 seconds in any kind of soap. 20 seconds of rinsing is needed and the soap is needed this is due to the virus having a loaner of fat like substance on the outside and the soap will break it down and rinse it away

Doesn't have to be antibiotic... soap and 20 sec will do it.
see video ASU professor shows how 20 seconds of hand washing can reduce bacteria under a black light

My advice - only consider yourself as safe as your last contact with someone, and with anything outside one's own home, which might be for five days or more. And anything entering one's home is also suspect. Often one is symptom-free but might pass it on. Also, the following seems OK - I even seem to have a small bottle of isopropyl (99% alcohol) for some reason - and I even have a couple of FFP3 face masks too, but I doubt I need to wear them.

How to make your own hand sanitiser at home using just three simple ingredients

I read a doctor explaining that only ffp2 and ffp3 are useful (ffp3 the better one). But mostly because you can't touch your mouth and nose. And of course if someone spits in your face (or coughs), hence the 1.5m distance. So, when standing in a queue at a supermarket it might be helpful.

Masks are out of stock, so I thought, maybe I could use a swimming mask with snorkel instead (and keep the snorkel "air in" well covered or even with air-tank). But not sure if that is efficient (at least if someone is coughing in my face I am protected).

Here in Holland some make masks from vacuum cleaner bags. Maybe they got the idea, because one brand is called "Corona vacuum cleaner bags". People are getting creative. Probably better than nothing, but this doctor said that the virus is very small, just 1 micrometer, so most masks won't work

And virus can also enter through eyes, so a mask for only mouth and nose seems a bit strange I think. It's all very new, lots to discover.

Can you use a silk scarf?

I use a plastic zip lock sandwich bag with some purely in it to clean my hands if i go to the store. Seems to be useful.

I also take lots of extra supplements. Ecanachea, vitamin C, etc...

Since the virus can enter via the eyes the main point of wearing a mask would probably be to protect others from anything one is likely to have (but not showing symptoms) although many seem to think they will protect one. People appear to be getting a little panicky here, with some elderly ladies grimly clasping woolly scarves around their mouths and desperate to keep at least 2m away even though shopping aisles don't allow this. Perhaps one-way systems will soon be enforced in supermarkets.
