Family tree is predominantly Scottish and English...mostly Scottish. My father is a full-blood haggis-chewer, they moved to Australia from Scotland when he was about 10 years old. On mum's side there's more Scots and Poms. I think there's a Spanish sea captain somewhere way back in the family tree, among other odds and ends, but Mum would know more about that, since she's the one who's been doing all that research. :p
How fascinating, Bastet; does your father belong to a clan ? Do you have a Tartan that belongs to the family ?

My Great Grandfather on Mum's side was a White Russian refugee; the rest of Mum's side was a mix of English, Irish and, I believe a touch of Scottish. My Father's side lays claim to German, French and Dutch roots - I believe he was the reason that Belgium was formed, so that he'd stop arguing with himself! Seriously though, Belgium was 'created' as a buffer zone between the French, Dutch and Germans. Dad was born in 'Wallonie' which is a part of the French part of Belgium; they have their own individual language.

To be difficult, I was born in what was the Belgian Congo. I found out that I had a half sister (15 Years older than I)when I was in my twenties, but never vrought up the subject of Dad's first marriage for fear of upsetting Mum.

I had a trip planned to Belgium to meet my half sister for the first time, which I kept, in 1997, just a month after my Father's death, and James and I have since been back to see her.:)

I'm actually quite interested in geneology. As far back as I can go on one side, I've got a guy that recieved this place for taking part in the frolicking good fun of the Crusades. Luckily, on the other side, to balance out that horror, I've got a water-witch, a family who housed a 'stop' on the Underground Railroad, the guy who wrote "Water Babies" and the poet that originally recorded the shenanigans of William Wallace. (From the Morrison Clan.)I need to do more research on that side, but it's difficult, since there's not that many people there.

I had a great, great aunt that was in the rebellion against mussolini. She was killed because of it. Don't know any other cool stories like that. But I was very interested in learning about my possible gypsy heritage.

I'm pretty much a racial mutt: Irish, Scottish, Native American (1/8 Apache and 1/16 Arapaho), Welsh, Swedish, Viking, Saxon, German, French, and God knows what else.

What I love is I'm related to a lot of "barbarian"/warrior cultures who spent centuries busily conquering one another... which maybe accounts for my slight temper? *smiles sweetly*

OOoo, Runt, have you ever read "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy"?! There's a fellow (only shown for about a chapter) who, unbeknownst to himself, is a direct descendant of Ghenghis Khan. He can't explain his attraction to furry hats...

Well, I could've done that, too... But I love Ford's 'argument' with the bulldozer-fellow!

Hot dang, there' sure are a lot of caucausoids here! I'm white myself...kind of old American, my ancestors fought in the Civil War. I think since my last name is "Peters", I have English-colonist heritage.

I try to downplay that though, since I believe more in one-worldism than traditional, people-dividing, war-causing stuff like ethnicity, nationality, religion, etc...

And heck, due to our nation's slight racial double standards, if I wanted to feel proud about my race, I'd be branded a racist :p Ain't gonna be no "white history month" for a while.

I got a bit of cherokee, lots of german ancestry, some irish, some swedish, and a bit of the tenesse mountain people. My skin has more of a dark, tan color on one side, and pale on the other.
The only known person I've traced so far is Abraham Lincoln, who is an ancestor on my moms side of the family.
