That is exactly what it was. And it is necessary to understand that and to stop you guys from dismissing this as anything else. And when I say it is necessary, I mean it is necessary in order to save lives.

I've watched the videos of this demonstration. To say this
perfect storm of some violent deluded louts & woefully
inadequate security is the same in scale & effect as actual
coups that have occurred around the world is ludicrous.

The way I see it, it was what it was. It seems that people are arguing over what to call it more than anything else.

I've come across this a lot in recent years, people telling me what's what and how it is. Not so much a recitation of facts and events, but more of how I'm supposed to feel about these facts and events.

Again, you do realize that this description could also apply to the events of 9/11.

Were these people deluded? Certainly. But not only violent, but homicidal terrorists committing acts of insurrection. Nothing about this should be characterized as “lite”.

I don't.

I've long said that 9/11 was due to our complacency, ie,
having taken no real precautions against hijacking.
But a difference is that the 9/11 perps were far far more
organized, & dedicated to a mission.
The big difference in description....
1/6 bumbling insurrectionists vs
9/11 fell terrorists.

The effects of 9/11 were far far greater....not at all equivalent.
"Insurrection" doesn't apply well to foreign attackers exacting
revenge for our foreign policy, & trying to affect it.

It's a tough call.
Shoot....& they might back off.
Or they might become even more enraged, & swarm.
And the aftermath...placed on leave...possibly facing prosecution.

More effective than a small force using weapons
is a large one merely threatening to use them.
