i am having a hard time classifying my religious beliefs (not that they neccesarily need classified, more curious than anything). i have mostly christian beliefs with a few exceptions. just a few:

* i don't believe in the virgin birth concept
* i believe Jesus was more of a messanger of God than the literal Son of God
* i don't believe in having to sit in a church to worship. this can be done anywhere
* i'm very conflicted on what happens when we die. part of me thinks that no Father (no matter how horrible their child was) would ever damn them to hell for eternity. that being said, if we are to take the Word as is... if there's a Heaven, then there is a hell.
* most importantly, i believe there are exceptions to every Rule. On a very personal note, I have had to take a life (in self defense of course) while in the military and am more than ok with the thought of "them or me". just as i would never look down on someone for stealing food to feed their family (and i wouldn't consider them or i a sinner)

any insight would be appreciated

Hi! :)

I would urge you simply to investigate as many different religions as you can, without prejudice ("pre-judging"), and then choose the one that seems most correct and best for you!

There's a wide variety of belief out there, so be sure not to restrict yourself to any one group of religions.

Also, please be sure not to be unduly influenced by anyone else! This is YOUR decision--no one else's.

And I'm sure that, as scripture promises, you'll ultimately be rightly guided.

Best regards, and I wish you good hunting! :)
