Any leader, be it a boss at work, a politician, a preacher, what skills do they really need to be strong?
I think charisma and humour is important. Honour and the ability to deal with people from all backgrounds. Being humble while also having the power to inspire.
Leadership is the capability of being heard, accepted and followed.
That's why leaders tend to be more criticized when the masses are more sure of themselves... and, conversely, why despair breeds leaders so easily even when they have obvious and fatal flaws. That is why fascist leaders tend to be remembered as far stronger and wiser than they ever were; the masses want to believe that it was so.
True strong leaders are a very different breed, and harder to pinpoint, because they tend to avoid the hazzards of the limelight. Yours is a fine description of those leaders.
