What The H*ll Is Happening With These Alabama Polls?

If he does, it's definitely noteworthy in showing how that sexual assault allegations against Moore apparently had an impact on Alabamans willingness to vote for him.
But ya gotta remember this street sign when you cross into the state: "Alabama: Six Million People With Seven Last Names-- A Great Place To Rear Your Own Kids".

Not exactly a great tagline given the multiple meanings of rear. :eek:o_O

It's easy and fun to make jokes about Alabamans. We will see what we will see.

True, but like I felt about Trump's better than even chances all along in the 2016 election, I believe Moore is likely to win.

:(
Countering electorates are more active after opposition wins.
It will all depend on how many Democrats are in Alabama.

They'll be more active. I just don't know if there are enough of them to win outright.

Moore is not an acceptable candidate for the office anyway. He is defiant of the very law he will take an oath to uphold. It is the election of Moore and his ilk that will put out country back into the dark ages.

I have a tendency to believe that "my" candidate will win as long as there is a plausible chance s/he will win. I assume that's an aspect of my intractable optimism, which I can't really help. If Moore wins, I will believe that something favorable will eventually come of that.

There is usually extremely low turnout for special elections. Maybe Moore has offended enough women and Blacks to get them to polls today.

One thing that the polls seem to have trouble predicting accurately is the excitement or eagerness of people to vote. People if asked will tell you who they would vote for, but I have a feeling that not too many Republicans are thrilled to be voting for Moore. If the pro-Moore votes tend to stay home he is done for..

I just turned on CNN, and Jones is ahead. Moreover, it appears that most of the votes in most of the counties that Moore is expected to win are in, and the votes in metro area counties that Jones is expected to win still have a few votes to count. So I'm going to call it: Jones wins! If I'm wrong, and have given someone false hopes, or falsely shattered someone's dreams, sue me.

It's been called by pretty much everyone so you're good. Jones wins! I'm so excited! I thought for sure that Moore would win! My faith in the people has been (momentarily) restored!

Dang, I thought I would be the first to project a winner.

My faith has been restored too--even if Jones doesn't somehow win, he has obviously gotten closer than the race could ever have been expected otherwise. It is good to know that (even) Alabamians are affected by Moore's perverted behavior. He's a chunk of vomit who needs to be in prison. Lock him up!

It's also totally ironic that this one seat in the Senate of Alabama's goes a long way in changing the balance of power there.

Although releasing 10 different versions of the same poll may be overkill, it illustrates the extent to which polling can be an assumption-driven exercise, especially in an unusual race such as Alabama’s Senate contest....
This is exactly right. It is too bad that so many people fail to accept this and end up riled for basically no reason.

What's alarming is that Moore still got 49% of the vote. Sheesh.
Yep, mostly because of the white evangelical vote that apparently has utterly ignored what Jesus taught as found in the gospels.
