What to do if it is difficult to understand a theist

Heyo

Veteran Member
Let me turn this a little different than my last OP

This OP are made for those who struggle to understand what a theist speak about, so it is not a thread to discuss the theist, but an OP for non believers to explain them self what is needed for them to understand a theists words in RF

In the other OP i realized it may be difficult to understand what i trying to speak about. It was words that i use that seem to be difficult, like "spiritual awakening" "seek from within" and so on. Is those words difficult to understand? (i used them for so many years i got maybe to used to its meaning)

Does other theists or believers struggle to understand example my words or meaning in RF?

Do you struggle to understand all theists generally in RF?

If you are a atheist, is it your lack of belief that make it difficult to understand theists? because you "do not believe in a God" ? So how can a theist explain it as if God do exist when they can not see God?
On RF it is less the problem that I don't understand what the theists say, it's more the problem that I get reprimanded or banned when I translate it into a language I do understand.

Translate as in changing the meaning of the teaching so it sounds more "logical" to you? did I understand that correctly?

I enjoy answering your questions. Missed this one apparently. A bit thought-provoking.

Does other theists or believers struggle to understand example my words or meaning in RF?

To an extent only because what you're saying is vague and words don't exist in a vacuum. Spiritual awakening and seeking within would best be described by personal experience.

For example, if I said yesterday I was hungry so I ordered pizza, you'd get what I mean by hungry.

However spiritual awakening doesn't have one set answer just as love doesn't and personal values.

Do you struggle to understand all theists generally in RF?

Sometimes. But it's mostly (hate to say this) not all theist can explain their views outside religious jargon.

It's more "I can't describe it. You'd have to do/believe X to understand". It cuts the Convo short. How does one understand when they cannot receive an answer?

If I went to an doctor and ask how he feels about saving lives I don't expect him to say I have to be a doctor first.
If you are a atheist, is it your lack of belief that make it difficult to understand theists? because you "do not believe in a God" ? So how can a theist explain it as if God do exist when they can not see God?

This is the cornerstone of the problem. How can atheist understand god if the theist doesn't have the ability to describe it?

But if a theist can't describe it asking whether atheist understand theist it's mute insofar assuming ones lack of belief excludes her from understanding the concept and relating to the experience of it.

Some religions believe "god" or divinity is in all religions we just experience it differently. If this is true in Sufi it would stand to reason that there is a way to describe spiritual awakening we can all identify whether we call it god (or from god) or not.

A spiritual awakening can generally be defined as a newfound awareness of a spiritual reality. No person can fully define a spiritual awakening for another. Of course, each person has a different outlook on life and defines things differently. It can happen at any moment or period in your life.

So you see, the awakening is the realiation of wisdom from God (for those who belive in God) But there is awakening in buddhism too (awakening to the wisdom of Buddha)

Want to give you an example from my previous post and OP.

1. What does awareness mean? "Spiritual" reality?

To me its like someone ask what is hugging. And the other replies it's the act of being hugged.

See the problem?

2. It can happen?

What is the characteristics of SA from your view to where the curious other may identify what you mean?

3. Wisdom of god?

This isnt a good answer (well meaning) because it assumes atheist understand the word god and determine how your god is wise.

Then what does wise mean? Hindu see it different than christians (per RF observation).

See the problem?

I do see a problem yes, I have to realize a new way to speak with some atheists (not all)
Maybe research what laymans terms I can use so that non believers can understand it.

To me this is not a negative reply from you @Unveiled Artist, it is actually an eye-opener for me.
So instead of giving a hastily written reply, this will be a weekend of study for me :)

Thank you for clarifying this things to me.

If you have the time ;) look into things like psychology, nuerotheology, history of biology (how people experience spirituality physically and how it relates to others who don't call it such), cultural studies on humanity and religion, things like that.

Neurotheology: The relationship between brain and religion I read and watched a YouTube awhile back on this.

Think of this. If spirituality is not a brain thing then doctors and scientist wouldn't see the difference between people who believe God and those who do not. Yet they do.

Something else of interest. Scientists found the spiritual part of our brains—religion not required

This isn't limited to Christianity.

It's not meant to devalue spirituality in layman's terms but just seeing how the mind, body, heart are interconnected.

Enjoy

Again a very good suggestion :) I will definitely look in to it over the weekend (and probably longer since its a big topic )
