What type of music?

I adore music.

I really am a Christian who predominately listens to Christian music while in the car and around the kids. We listen to K-Love, Christian radio.

My favorite Christian music artists are Rebecca St. James, Casting Pearls and Todd Agnew.

When I'm not around the kids...I DO listen to secular music.

I don't like country music at all, really but enjoy everything else.

My favorite musical genre is shoegazer and my favorite band of all time is probably Lush.

I also like Love Spirals Downwards, My Bloody Valentine, Frente, Garbage, Curve, Chevelle, Alice in Chains and NIN, Faith no More (I LOVE Faith no More) and Stone Temple Pilots.

My favorite female artists are Tori Amos, Sarah Maclachlan, Jewel, Poe, Annie Lennox, Natalie Merchant, Cyndi Lauper and Sarah Brightman.

My favorite male artist is probably John Frusciante.

I adore Chopin...especially the Etudes.

"Older" music...I like Billy Squier (which just cracks me up), the Eagles, Zeppelin and Pink Flloyd.

Sorry for the novel...

I'm still fairly new to contemporary Chrstian music, but I've been listening to more of it. I guess I've burned out on everything else.:p

I also listen to Country Music because I enjoy the stories the songs tell and that the artists aren't afraid to sing about their faith.

Before that I mainly listened to Classic Rock like Led Zeppelin & Pink Floyd mixed in with Van Halen, Boston, and the Cars.
Music is good.:guitar1:

That is actually quite good man. Are you all the artists there or just one of em ;)?

I'm all of them. There's a lot of songs on my website that you can't get to from the site itself. (Most of them are works in progress) If you'd like to hear them, I can give you links to them!

My Heartstrings Come Undone - Demon Hunter
Good song. My favorite Demon Hunter is Screams of The Undead. Since I was shown they are Christian, I realize a moment of irony in my life, involving a TV class teacher (who is a conservative Christian) who wouldn't let me use that song as an intro theme because it was "too evil."

I did realise today, after a good day at work (first shift numbers were even so I didn't have to fix them at the end of the shift, didn't have to put up with people, time went by fast, and I got off 11 minutes early), I don't have any music for good occasions like that on my MP3 player. Never really occured to me, when I was in a good mood, which is very, VERY rare. I endup playing AC/DC. Hell's Bells, Highway to Hell, Thunderstruck, and Dirty Deeds did put in a mood to party though.

I listen mostly to metal and progressive rock. Favorite bands are Opeth, Emperor, Nevermore, Dimmu Borgir, Children Of Bodom, Strapping Young Lad, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, all the old thrash bands (Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, Kreator, Slayer etc...), and just basically any music that holds both melodic beauty, crushing heaviness and progressive complexity.

I love lots of music. What I listen to changes with my mood...

Techno - like Orbital - Awesome background music.
Japanese - like Yoko Kano - She has the most hauntingly beautiful music I've ever heard.
Classical - I love violin concertos.
Alternative, Rock and Metal - So varied in content... I try to listen to music that makes me happy or is socially relevant. Ominotago when I'm thinking of my sister.
Rap - I like very little, but there are some artists with deep and meaningful content.
Jazz & blues - usually mixed with techno... like Lamb.

I listen to music because I feel. The music I listen to is a manifestation of my mood before I'm even consciously aware of it. That said, it's a wonderful tool for self-analysis.

Oh, my God! I love you! Lamb is great! And I thought I was the only one on here that listened to Orbital! And to top it all off, you like Yoko Kanno too!:faint: Do you like other Japanese music like Aikawa Nanase or Shiina Ringo? Shiina Ringo is my personal favorite.:D

Anyway...

Industrial: (My favorite genre) Bands like Skinny Puppy, Wumpscut, Apoptygma Berzerk, KMFDM, etc,...

Traditional/Classical Goth: Very symphonic music with haunting melodies and female vocals (usually).

Elliott Smith gets his own category

Japanese: Lots of different stuff that most of you probably won't even know

Indie: I either hate it or love it. The Sounds, Interpol, Modest Mouse

Rock: Vague category = lots of different stuff, but I won't bore you with all of them. Marilyn Manson, APC, SilverChair, Kill Hannah, The Cranberries, Placebo, Sneaker Pimps, Blah blah blah...

Metal: Tool is the most metal thing I will listen to. I like some Nightwish too though.

80's: The Cure, Duran Duran, Pat Benetar, Blondie, Tears for Fears.

I've wasted your time long enough.

Anything else: Le Tigre, Team Sleep, Tori Amos, Lamb, Metric, Portishead, Enon

I don't have any dislikes really. Favourites, too many to list.

Classic Rock, Folk, Country & western, Blues, classical music.........well, I think I'll leave it at that.

Of course, having been brought up when 'modern music' first took off, I have a particular liking for all 60's music. As an aside, I get a lot of enjoyment out of taking a mono vynil, recording it onto my computer, and passing the track through a program like sound forge twice to pick out certain element, to produce what passes off as good quality stereo.

Can sound forge remove vocals...

The Tool singers finally broken the camel's back.
