What would you do if Polygamy was made legal and practiced again?

Youw wife has to consent to it herself for it to happen. If you did, she would encourage and support you and the Lord in the decision.

That sounds good in theory, but from what I've read, it doesn't always pan out in practice. Dorothy Allred Solomon talks about this in her memoir, "Daughter of the Saints." She speaks of several instances where women in plural marriage said they were okay with it, wanted to be okay with it, told themselves they were doing God's will, did their best to conform and supportive of it, all for the sake of their husband and community, but ultimately struggled fiercely with jealousy and bitterness their entire lives.

meh...
There were not equal numbers of men and women in the early Mormon Church.
I'm not going to provide a link, because I don't support the site I pulled this off of, but the original reference is here, so that should be fine:
Mormon Apostle John Widtsoe wrote on pages 390-391 of his book entitled Evidences and Reconciliations, "The most common of these conjectures is that the Church, through plural marriage, sought to provide husbands for its large surplus of female members. The implied assumption in this theory, that there have been more females than male members in the Church, is not supported by existing evidence. On the contrary, there seem always to have been more males than females in the Church... The theory that plural marriage was a consequence of a surplus of female Church members fails from lack of evidence."
Of course, that would mean that there were significant numbers of single LDS men in those days. I would be interested in their stories...

I'd do nothing. I'd stay with my wife only. IMO, there's no reason to have multiple spouses/partners. It only complicates things ;).

My father says that two women in a household is a recipe for destruction, I plan to prove him wrong.

Thanks for the quote. It conflicts with other reports, such as the Frontline documentary I referenced.

I just scanned through the transcript of part I and part II of the frontline documentary and didn't see anything about the balance of men and women, do you have a quote or anything I could look at?

Honestly, I want to practice it. After being on a mission to the Philippines there are so many women there who can't find a husband that is a worthy member. I hear that it's the same on the eastern side of the US. I wish that I could fulfill their wish to have a worthy member husband. I can't stand it that there are so many worthy, beautiful, LDS women who can get married in the Temple simply becuase there aren't enough worthy men.

BUT, I don't think my fiancee would go for it.

If polygamy were legalized in the USA, I'd leave.

I have a hard enough time trying to get one wife and keep her happy. No thanks.

See when im building up my hareem of gorgeous men i am not thinking of myself but them. Why let one man have such a hard time keeping me happy when i can let ten men have an easier between them?
