Me too!!! a descendant of Soule Hi cousin!!!

Robert Arthur Jenkins - the middle name was given in the Jenkins family for a surname found in "offshoots" to the ancestoral line. However the family I was named after was "Arthie" but my father took pity and named me Arthur. His middle name was Birch after a family that married into the Tyer's
Who were your greatgrandparents and greatgreatgrandparents? My Greatgrandmother was Emma Soule and her father was Isaac Gage Soule, his father was Jonathan Hatfield Soule.

I wasn't named AFTER Lauren Bacall, but that's where my mom got the idea. My last name is from the moorlands of England, but we think that it was affected by the Viking invasions and actually comes originally from Old Norse. The ending of my last name is similar to the Old Norse placename for "island."

In the Soule line [Mary(5), Isaac(4), Moses(3), John(2), George(1)] I looked at the General Society of Mayflower Descendants Publication for George Soule but it only covers 4 generations (and their children). I could not find an Isaac son of Jonathan which means your entry into the Soule line was much further down the descendant line than mine (I'd guess about 5 generations). In order to calculate the relationship (i.e., 7th cousin twice removed) we would have to find the common ancestor and the number of generations back to him.

My grandfathers sibling's children are second cousins and each generation from them is 1 more removed. My great grandfathers sibling's children are third cousins.

I found a lady online who had my same greatgreatgrandfather and we are 3rd cousins. If you haven't already done so, you might check out this site. This is where I found most of my Soule info.

Start with your closest Soule relative that you know of and work backward. Let me know how it works out. My greatgrandmother was a Soule. I started with her and worked backward. I already knew from family hearsay about the Mayflower connection, but wanted to see it for myself. Not only do we have a Soule connection, but also Standish and Alden.

If you have Alden (as I have too!) then you have Mullins. That makes four for you (including Standish) - my fourth is Richard Warren.

Given those family names - you must be eligble for the Daughters of the American Revolution - I'll bet there are a few that served.
